Kōkopu Newsletter
Term 2 Week 4 Monday 20th May 2024
Principals Message
I would like to welcome our new students who started this term .. Lucy, Ariyah, Cole, Anabelle, Treston, Nixon and Ava to Kokopu School. You have had a great start and we know you will fit in well.
One of the things I really enjoy is meeting new families and giving them a tour of our wonderful school. I know that both students and staff take pride in our school and this shows when they meet visitors and share what a great place Kōkopu school is. I have also had a number of visitors to our school in the last two weeks including, people from The Ministry of Education, contractors, and principals from local and not-so-local schools. They all comment on the positive environment and that children are busy, learning and happy.
We are going through a bit of growth at the moment and you may notice that class sizes are getting bigger. As a small rural school, we have student milestones that determine when we get our next teacher. For us to get another teacher and open up room 5 we need to get to 126 students. We are currently sitting on 119. So, if you know of anyone looking to move into our area or wants to enrol at our school, please encourage them to get in contact with us and fill in our online enrolment form. www.kokopu.school.nz/enrolments You can also remind them that we are not zoned so there are no restrictions on attending our school.
Regards

House of Bricks Lego Day
Our year 4-8 students had a wonderful day completing 4 Lego challenges with other small rural schools in our area last week.
We were particularly impressed with the creativity and the way our students demonstrated our school values by supporting others.
A huge thank you to Poroti School for organising extra charity funding to help pay for the day.
Also a big thanks to the parents that helped out when our bus didn't arrive.

Oodies - Great for home but not so great for school
With cooler weather we have noticed more students coming to school in Oodies.
Oodies are great for home but not so great for school. We would prefer students to be in normal jerseys more suitable for the classroom environment, learning and playing outdoors.
REMINDER - Swimming Pool Key Returns and Audit
Can we have all the swimming keys back please?
We would like to do an audit of what keys we have.
When you return your key you will get your bond back.
Chicken Pox
Please be advised that there is chicken pox going around at the moment in our school and in the wider community.
Please be vigilant.
