Bach Before/After Care 2025-2026
From the Art Room
Hello Bach friends,
This past week in art class, young fives made flower pot collages, kindergarten classes learned how to create art from a doodle, and first graders drew beta fish and painted them with watercolors. Second and third grade students completed their dot paintings and x-ray Aboriginal animal drawings where they imaged what the inside of an animal looks like and represented the skeleton through line and pattern. Fourth graders made blown straw watercolor images and fifth graders completed coloring their dragon eye drawings. Looking forward to this week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Alseri
Virtual Author Talks
On Wednesday, May 21st, in celebration of Asian Pacific Islander American Heritage Month, AAPS and the Asian Pacific Islander South Asian American parent group (APISA/A) are highlighting two virtual author talks for our students, staff and families to attend. From 10 to 11 AM, Saadia Faruqi, author of the popular children’s early reader series “Yasmin,” will talk on the topic of global citizenship. This talk is best for students in grades 3 through 8. From 1:30 to 2 PM, Richard Howill join for a talk geared towards elementary students, particularly those in grades Young fives through 2nd grade. Ho’s books include children’s picture books like Red Rover: Curiosity on Mars and Two New Years.
Pre-registration is required for these events here. AAPS teachers who register before May 20 have the opportunity to be entered into a raffle to receive a copy of a book by the authors.
Join us at the 2nd Annual Bach BEST Fest
Please join the entire Bach community - students and families - for the second annual Bach B.E.S.T. Fest on May 20th from 6-7:30pm at Bach! All are welcome at this event celebrating our Bach Bengals and their Dens.
You will learn more about what Bengal Dens are, what projects your child(ren) did with their Bengal Dens this year, and more about the Bach BEST Values: Be Yourself, Everyone is Welcome, Say Something, Take Care of Others. We will enjoy performances by Spinning Dot Theater, book readings in many different languages, Bengal Den arts & crafts, and a variety of refreshments. So please, join us!
We are looking for volunteers to read books in any language, volunteers to bring food, and to help make the event run smoothly in general. Please sign up here if you are able!
Spirt Wear Order
The Spring Spirit Wear order is here: BachElementary.itemorder.com/sale
Buy 3 items, get free home shipping with code 3FREE. Paid home shipping is available for fewer than 3 items. Alternatively, select "free pick up" and your items will be delivered home in your child's backpack (guaranteed by Ice Cream Social on May 30th). If you prefer an alternate pick up option, please contact Dara Moses to arrange it. Many items available with 3 logo options!
As noted in the Fall order, some parents have requested a way to help purchase spirit wear for Bach teachers and staff. We have therefore added an *optional* Donations section to the website. Any funds collected here will go directly towards the purchase of spirit wear for Bach teachers and staff. Please note that credit card charges will incur a small processing fee. If you would prefer to donate via venmo (@BachPTO), that also works but please make sure to reference "Staff Spirit Wear Donation". Again, this is completely optional.
Please submit orders by midnight on Monday, May 19th.
Our vendor, Midwest Graphics, is a locally owned business and $3 from every item will support the Bach PTO (except for the staff shirts). Feel free to contact Dara Moses with any questions.
Happy shopping and go Bach Bengals!
PLTW/CTE Expo
The PLTW/CTE Expo will take place at Skyline on May 13 from 6:00 p.m.to 7:30 p.m. PLTW modules from each grade level will be represented as a showcase to community members; all students and their families are invited to attend. Select windmills from our Bach 4th grade energy unit will be on display at this event.
Bach Field Day, May 30
Get your running shoes on and a water bottle ready, cause the annual field day will be here before we know it. I need enthusiastic volunteers ready to lead on stations. As usual, Kindergarten through second grade is in the morning starting at 9:20 am until 11:20 a.m. Third through fifth grade is in the afternoon from 1:15 p.m.-3:15 p.m. Just click on the link to sign up.
Thank You!
Ice Cream Social, May 30
The end-of-year Ice Cream Social will take place at Bach on Friday, May 30, from 5:30 to 7:30. Get ready for games, magic, face painting, balloon twisting, pizza, and ice cream! We need lots of volunteers for this event, as well as donations of baked goods for our popular Cake Bingo. Please consider lending a hand!
The Annual Bach Book Exchange will take place during the Ice Cream Social. Beginning at Bach Best Fest on May 20, drop off your gently used children’s books on the stage in the MPR. During the event, kids can browse the collection and take home some new-to-them books—perfect for jumpstarting their summer reading!
