ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Attendance plays an important role in a child's academic success. We understand that sometimes students must stay home due to illness. When they are not sick, we appreciate you making sure your children attend school daily and on time. Our goal is for students to be in class 95% of the school year. Which means no more than 10 absences!
Perfect Attendance Totals per Class
A class receives perfect attendance when all students are in class. When classes receive 10 days of perfect attendance they get to choose between a Popcorn Party, Pajama Day, Eat lunch on stage, Spirit Day, Homework pass or anotther activity of their choice.
Bijou's Perfect Attendance Board
We had a 94.89% attendance rate for the week of April 30th-May 3rd.
Weekly Perfect Attendance per class

FOOD WASTE RECYCLING PROGRAM VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Hello Bijou families!
The City of South Lake Tahoe, South Tahoe Refuse & Recycling, and California Climate Action Corps have teamed up to bring the Food Waste Recycling Program to all elementary schools in LTUSD. Bijou has been doing a fantastic job at separating food waste in the cafeteria! In March, California Climate Action Corps Fellows Katie Sloan and Lily Summerville visited each class to teach lessons about the importance of food waste separation and lead a game about waste sorting. Katie and Lily have been monitoring the food waste bins in the cafeteria and are looking for parent volunteers to help out! If you are interested in monitoring the food waste bins during lunch to earn some volunteer hours, please email organics@southtahoerefuse.com for the sign-up schedule.
We want to thank Bijou teachers and staff for their support, especially rockstar lead custodian Terri Quintanilla for all her hard work making the program successful.

BREAD & BROTH 4 KIDS
St. Theresa’s Bread & Broth (B&B) 4 Kids’ Resumes Regular School Year Program for Kids.
On Friday, September 8th, 2023, St. Theresa’s B&B 4 Kids’ resumed their B&B 4 Kids’ School Year Weekend Food Bag program. The weekend food bags are distributed every Friday to all LTUSD schools. Each bag contains seven single-serving, kid-friendly meals (2 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 3 dinners), fresh fruit and protein enriched snacks to supplement weekend nourishment.
B&B 4 Kids’ also sponsors the School Healthy Snack program and will be providing boxes of protein bars to each school to distribute to children who may become hungry during the school day. B&B 4 Kids' provides over 500 nutrition bars to the schools on a weekly basis in order to meet the demand of children needing supplemental food during the school day. Previously, teachers paid for the snacks out of their personal funds; the B &B 4 Kids' School Healthy Snack Program addresses the continued need for additional nutritious snacks during school.
Parents interested in determining eligibility for their child to receive these B&B 4 Kids weekend food bags can contact their child’s school office for an application or click on the picture for the application and turn it into their school office.
