Lister Going to the Polls
On Wednesday 3rd July Lister will be hosting an in-school election to give our students a taste of what a real General Election feels like! Although our students are too young to vote, we believe it is so important for them to be politically active and knowledgeable.
Over the last week, we have been using Form Time to run different activities linked to the upcoming General Election, including engaging with the manifestos of some of the major parties. This is to encourage students to make an informed decision when voting and to really understand what is being promised.
We have transformed our Library into a polling station for the day and students are very excited about getting a chance to have their say! Bring on election day!

The Lister Oscars!
There's nothing we love at the Lister News desk more than an awards' evening. This year we have a wonderful event taking place on Wednesday the 17th of July at 4pm. Lister will be hosting its first 'Lister Oscars' award evening. Over 200 students have been selected for awards by staff across the school and they will be presented with certificates and prizes in front of their families and friends. For the moment, the awards have been anonymised. Students will be invited to the evening if they have received an award and they will discover which subject they have won the award in during the evening. We will share further news in the build up to the event! For now, the evening will also include performances from current and ex students as well as an Art exhibition.
Lister Webpage in Focus
At the Lister news' desk, we know what it's like to be parents. We have children of our own that are making their way through school. Sometimes we have questions that we would like answered: curriculum questions like - 'What is the maths' topics they are doing this term?'; or, 'What book are they reading in English?' Perhaps you might have pastoral questions: 'Who is their form tutor?'; or, 'What is year 11 doing in form time this year?'
These are all questions that you can get in touch with us about through the 'Contact us' on the Lister Web Page. Please follow the link below if you have any questions you would like the answer to. We will be in touch as soon as possible.
