Club Osprey
Students brought home a letter on bright pink paper outlining our launch of CLUB OSPREY in January. In short, this will be an opportunity for every student in Grades K - 5 to participate in a choice activity on a monthly basis. Please take a few moments to read through the choices offered for your child (Primary Grades K - 2 have different options than Intermediate Grades 3 - 5).
We are SUPER excited about bringing this opportunity to every child. We will be looking for a few volunteers, as well. Stay Tuned!
Bowie Baysox Reading Program and Jersey Design Contest
Again this year, LES students are encouraged to participate in the Bowie Baysox “Read & Hit a Home Run” Reading Program. Students have to record and submit record of books they've read. When they complete the program by reading four (4) books either, they will receive two (2) free tickets to your county’s reading night at a Bowie Baysox game this season.
Additionally, there is an invitation to participate in a jersey design contest. Students brought home a paper copy of the submission form. For your convenience, it is also included below.
Attention Military Families
If you are a military family, and have not done so already, please consider signing your student up for the MFLC (military family life counselor) program at LES. Your student will take part in lunch bunches, where they will participate in various activities weekly with other students and the MFLC counselor, Anni Christensen. The focus will be on the military child experience such as a parent deployment, change of schools and friendships. The student can also attend individual sessions if appropriate.
The parental consent form is attached, and it can be forwarded to the student’s teacher or the MFLC counselor, Anni Christensen, at abchristensen@contracted.smcps.org.
