Principal's News
There is much to be proud of this year. October 29 ended Q1 and we held a Staff vs. Student volleyball game (staff won). The week ended with teacher planning days and a student Intramural Flag Football LCPS Championship for Harmony! Quarter 2 starts with some Veterans Day activities (11/11 and 11/12) and then we host our first Cornerstone Awards Nights. A smooth start. Happy kids. Wonderful school. I hope your weekend is restful.
Award Night Details:
At the end of Quarters 1 -3, we have a Quarterly Recognition Night for students earning the "All A/B" and "All A" Honor Roll and well as students selected by staff for our Cornerstone Awards (citizenship, effort, leadership, scholarship, and the math and writing awards.). Both occur at the same time (dates below in calendar section).
There are no invitations for the honor roll. Each family should look at their child's report card and will know whether the A/B or All A honor roll was earned. Students will receive a pin and a bumper sticker and be recognized on stage. Hope to see you there.

Creative Teacher and Kids
Mr. Weitlich and his classes have worked hard on the new claw machine. It takes tokens.
Potential use? We could fill it with prizes. We are generating ideas of where we could house them so kids could have access for both machines.

Staff Recognition
This week we recognize Ms. Cicely Bell and Ms. Morrison:
...from a parent, "Hello hello! Oh we couldn’t be prouder! She has worked so hard this first quarter to get all A’s. It wasn’t easy but she powered through, put in the time and she sees the results. We will celebrate with a special dinner out and a little gift of choice from a tweenager favorite Ulta!
It has been a big jump in terms of her schoolwork responsibilities; being aware of homework, when it is due and studying for tests but she has acclimated very well. Thankfully she loves a day timer and sees the benefit in writing everything down.
We are very happy with Harmony. We didn’t really know what to expect but there have been zero issues. She especially loves the Spread the Love club (sponsored by Ms. Morrison) and is looking forward to attending the rest of the year. I’m sure you remember her coming up with ideas to include in the club. She’s always thinking of new ones!
She has a very special relationship with Ms. Bell who has been an absolutely fantastic teacher. She always comes home with great things to say about her and English class.
Thank you parents and staff for submitting names. If you would like to recognize a staff member, please email eric.stewart@lcps.org)
YEARBOOK
Interested in purchasing a yearbook this year? For a limited time, the yearbook will be $30, until the price goes up on December 1. To guarantee your student receives a yearbook, please go to www.yearbookordercenter.com and type in school code 21667 to order.
We also need 8th Grade students’ baby pictures! To submit your picture, please follow the guidelines below. Emailed photos will not be accepted. Photos must be uploaded to eShare no later than Friday, 11/22.
- Please send only one baby picture of your 8th grade student.
- The photos will be rectangular in the yearbook, so a vertical picture is better. Also, a close-up of the face is better than a full-body photo.
- Please make sure the picture is good quality. Taking a picture of a picture on your computer screen will not work because of the poor resolution.
- Please send a picture of your student by themselves. If you send a picture with a sibling or parent, the other people will be cropped out of the photo which may detract from the quality of the image.
- Follow the prompts in eShare to identify the student by first and last name. You can access eShare by going to www.yearbookshare.com and enter school code 21667.
If you have any questions about anything yearbook, please contact Jennifer Heffron, Yearbook Adviser, at jennifer.heffron@lcps.org.

Pacheco Scuba Update
This summer, we shared a picture from Atticus Pacheco getting scuba trained. Since then Atticus spent time during the fall and traveled with his dad to Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary off the coast of Florida to learn about this endangered marine ecosystem.
Atticus conducted several dives over two days on the barrier reef that serves as a vital habitat for coral and other marine life, and had a chance to observe sharks, rays, turtles and fish in their natural habitat. He also learned about conservation efforts underway to protect these and other fragile coral reefs, which cover just 1% of the ocean floor, but host 25% of marine life.
News from the ART Department
We just put up an art show at the National Conference Center. The slide show link is posted below and jpeg files as well.
