Leyden Theatre presents The Play that Goes Wrong
Leyden Theatre will be performing The Play that Goes Wrong this weekend, November 30, December 1, and December 2, at the West Leyden auditorium starting at 7:00 p.m. Get ready for a night of mishaps, mischief, and madcap mania! It’s the opening night of the Cornley Drama Society’s newest production, “The Murder at Haversham Manor,” and things have quickly gone from bad…to utterly disastrous. The troupe’s ambitious 1920’s whodunit has everything you never want in a show: falling props, collapsing scenery, an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything…including their lines. How will this eager ensemble battle against all of the disastrous odds? Will they make it to the final curtain call?
Don’t miss this international hit that’s equal parts Monty Python and Sherlock Holmes – The Play That Goes Wrong is full of hilarious perfection. This play-within-a-play is perfect for everyone from first time theater-goers to seasoned thespians.

Leyden provides Thanksgiving dinner to Naval Recruits
On Thanksgiving, Leyden hosted a holiday celebration for 300 Navy Recruits from Great Lakes Naval Station. Leyden sent buses up to the base in Waukegan, and the recruits spent the day enjoying a full thanksgiving meal and experience at East Leyden. Treats were prepared by the Leyden culinary students, entertainment by the Chamber Choir, and there were games, including football, table tops, bags, and even chromebooks and cell phones so that the recruits could connect with their families.
“It gives us such joy to be able to treat those who serve our country a family-style experience at a time when we know they aren’t able to be with their own families,” said Superintendent, Dr. Nick Polyak. “Our hope is that their time with us helps to show them the love and support of our Leyden communities.”
In addition, the National Honor Society students attended the event, and socialized with the recruits to ensure a memorable experience for all.
