Good Bye Mrs. Ross and Good Luck In Your Retirement -WE WILL MISS YOU!
Farewell to Principal Ross
Dear Swartz Families,
As you all know, I am retiring at the end of June and want to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and partnership over the years. I have worked in District 48 for 17 years, as a principal for 11 of those years. Some of you know that I worked at Jackson Middle School in District 45 for 14 years, some of my District 48 parents were my former students! It is so cool to be able to see former students as grown-ups and so wonderful to be able to work with their children. I love this community! Thank you all for your support and trust in educating and caring for your children. It has been an honor and privilege to serve the District 48 community in various capacities.
With love and dedication,
Angie Ross
See You All Soon!
Goodbye For Now
Summer Time ,Summer Time Fun! We will miss all of you. Have fun this summer and we will see all of you in August for the upcoming school year!
Farewell & Good Luck to Mrs. Bauers
So long, farewell, we hope you enjoy your retirement! We will miss you!
Summer Technology Use
Salt Creek School District 48 will be changing its summer technology practices. Starting this summer, all district-issued Chromebooks will go home with students for summer use. This only applies to students in grades 1 through 7 who are fully registered for the 24-25 school year. Summer technology will not be an option for our current kindergarten students, as those Chromebooks remain in Kindergarten each year.
- The Chromebook should be ready for use on the first day of the 2024-2025 school year.
- We encourage our parents and guardians to limit screen time during the summer. D48 will also limit screen time by only allowing students to use their Chromebooks between the hours of 7:00 AM-7:00 PM. After 7:00 PM, the Chromebook will automatically be disabled and will be available for use again the following day starting at 7:00 AM.
- All Chromebook activity will continue to be filtered and logged. However, the District will not be actively monitoring the activity until school resumes and students will only be allowed to access district approved educational materials.
- Students with Chromebook issues should turn in their devices to their school office for repair over the summer. The Chromebook will be returned to the students at the beginning of school in August
- Leave it in the protective case when you are not using it.
- Keep it away from food and drinks at all times.
- Be a good digital citizen! Stick to trusted sites, balance screen time, and communicate with kindness.
- Have it ready for back-to-school use by being charged and ready to use.
4th Grade Visit to Albright
Mrs. Ross and The Last Pizza Reading Party
This was the last of the students who turned in their Pizza Reading Card for the year. They were so excited to end the year with Mrs. Ross and having a pizza party with her. The students look forward to earning incentives and having fun while doing it! You can see it in the photos!
Chalk It Up
Mrs. Le Gal's class helped us all earn Chalk it Up time because they earned an All Star Certificate. Way to go!
Science Day
The students were challenged to make a bridge and see how much weight their bridge could hold. They loved every minute of constructing and configuring with using straws to build. Our students can be very creative.
Minute To Win It Incentive because 94% of our students are registered!
3rd Grade Art Class
Photos of 3rd Grade drawing outside for art class. The students used view finders to zoom in on drawing and then used the technique of value shading.

3rd Grade Wendella Boat Field Trip
Third grade students went on the Wendella Boat field trip Tuesday, May 28th. They had a great time today. No rain makes it a great time out on the water!
8th Grade Clap Out on Graduation Day
Today all students were at Albright to cheer on the 8th grade students for their graduation day. This is our tradition every year with students in grades Kindergarten thru 7th grade. Our Salt Creek and Swartz students have pom pom's and Viking helmets as they cheer the 8th grade students on! This is such a fun tradition that the 8th grade students look forward to it! We love doing this for them and to see the look and smiles on all their faces is priceless! Once a Viking always a Viking!
Kane County Cougars Game
The kids earned this day! They had so much fun! Mrs. Ross is always looking for field trips that students have fun with a way of incorporating learning. The students were able to walk on the baseball filed diamond for a parade! How lucky were they! Both Salt Creek and Swartz were able to go on the same day!
Awards Assembly At Swartz
Students at Swartz got their certificates for their participation in clubs, reading, art, band/orchestra and 4th grade step up today.
Olympic Day
Thank you to all of our teachers and parent volunteers who helped out on this day. If it wasn’t for you this day would not be possible. Thank you to the one person that takes the time to put this together, Mrs. Noll. Thank you, Mrs. Noll, the students love you!

4th grade - Tomato Plants
Mrs. Noll received tomato plants with all the required items to plant. Each student was able to pot a tomato plant. They had a lot of fun doing this. We have such creative teachers in our district. They manage to always find ways for our students to be hands on and incorporate something from our class or from one of our clubs. They always make it fun and learning!
