Read Across America Spirit Week begins on Monday, March 3rd and runs through Thursday, March 6th.

The Vernfield Home & School Association is seeking parent volunteers to participate in the March Pod Parents program which will be available on:

-Tuesday, March 11th

-Wednesday, March 12th

Pod Parents is a volunteer program where parent(s)/guardian(s) assist any participating teachers & staff with projects, tasks, and/or other busy work. Volunteers may float amongst the six (6) pods (K - 5th grades), the Main Office and the Library to complete any work during their designated time slot.

Teachers & Staff are looking for help at the following times:

• 9:00 – 11:00am
• 1:00 – 3:00pm

When you arrive at the school, please:

1. Check into the front office for the Pod Parent directions. You will need your driver’s license and the completed volunteer registration form, which can be found on the SASD website.
2. Once checked in, you can proceed to any of the Pods, where there will be instructions that participating teachers have left for the volunteers. Please note that all volunteer work will be completed in the Pod and not in the classrooms.
3. Please do not enter the classrooms or otherwise disturb classroom learning. Further, younger siblings may not accompany the adults while volunteering at school.
4. Please be respectful that pod parent volunteer time is not a time to hold individual conversations with your child's teacher or to visit the classroom of your child.
5. Kindly check with Mrs. Smerecki (Main Office) and Mrs. Porco (Library) to see if they need assistance.
6. If you have completed your work, and you are not able to find any additional work, please be advised that you are not required to stay for the full two (2) hours.
7. Finally, if you are not able to complete the project, please leave the instructions and materials in the pod as you found them for the next group of volunteers to work on.

Attendance is only open to students currently attending Vernfield and their

immediate families.

This is not a drop-off/pick-up event. All students who watch the show must be accompanied by an adult.

Vernfield HSA Board elections for the 2025-2027 school years will be held during the March 2025 HSA meeting on Monday, March 3rd in the Vernfield Library.

There are two open HSA Board positions that will be included in the election:

-VP Communications

-Co-Treasurer

We are also still looking for volunteers for the following Committee chair openings:

-K/1st Grade Lunchroom Helpers

The Teach Kids Stem Club invites Vernfield 3-5th graders to become Environmental Engineers for the day for oil spill clean-up. This activity will take place at Vernfield on Thursday, March 27th, from 3:20-4:20pm. Students will need to be picked up after the activity is complete.

The Harlem Wiards are returning to Souderton Area School District! A representative player from the Wizards will briefly visit with students at Vernfield during an assembly on Monday, March 3.

Then, the Wizards will be taking on the SASD Dream Team, including Vernfield’s very own Miss Goodwin and Mr. Healey, on the night of Friday, April 4 at Souderton Area High School.

Souderton Summer Camp will be running from June 16th - August 15th, 2025, and is now open for registration. More information can be found in the accompanying flyer.

The SASD Summer Camp offers children a chance to engage in recreational activities and have fun in a structured environment. Our programs include Art, Gym, Science, Swimming, and field trips, as well as events, special guest, sports, and games.
