Good afternoon Arrowwood Families,

We wish our Girls on the Run team, coaches, and mentors a fabulous race tomorrow morning. They have worked so diligently and grown so much over the season. They hosted a fabulous end of the season celebration yesterday and as part of their service learning spread cheer to the Arrowwood staff last Friday. The team made posters for each of the Arrowwood staff members with empowering messages and hand delivered them. Good luck GOTR!

Arrowwood Elementary would like to wish your family a Happy Thanksgiving. We are so incredibly thankful for each day that we get to spend with your child witnessing those moments where they discover something new, read independently the largest word, and test a scientific question. A huge note of appreciation to our PTO volunteers who spent two days making delicious caramel popcorn for the Eagles. Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work together to help the Eagles continue to soar to new heights at Arrowwood!

Arrowwood Elementary is currently seeking 1 individual to work as a lunch aid with the Eagles. Candidates must love kids, enjoying playing sports, and helping students with lunch. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Ms. D'Haene

For the next couple of weeks, students will be learning how to handle a put down using an I-Statement. Third, fourth, and fifth graders will understand the difference between bullying and a mean statement. They will be able to talk through conflicts with their peers and know how to report bullying, support someone being bullied by standing up for that person, being kind, and inclusive. In addition, students will recognize, report, and refuse cyber bullying when they see or know about it happening. Your child will bring home simple, fun activities to do together in the form of a brochure. These activities give your child another chance to practice his or her skills for handling bullying with you. The brochure will also share with you about what your child is learning about I-Statements, and how you can assist your child if he or she needs to respond to a put down or rude gesture.

We need your help, too! Get involved in making our school a safe and respectful place by letting us know if you hear about bullying at our school. Make sure your child knows to tell you or someone at school if they are being bullied, or if they know about someone else being bullied. Give your child the clear message that it is never okay to bully others.
