2024 Federal Impact Aid Program Survey - Beginning September 4, 2024
The Federal Impact Aid Program Survey is designed to assist school districts who have lost revenue due to federal properties' exemption from local property taxes. The amount of federal money received is determined by calculating the concentration of students who reside on military bases, low-rent housing properties, and other federal properties, have parents in the uniformed services, or have parents employed on eligible federal properties. In Hawaii, Federal Impact Aid helps offset costs for school materials and resources, substitute teachers, student transportation, and other services at schools statewide. All students and schools benefit from Impact Aid. In the 2022-23 school year, Hawaii public schools benefited from more than $46.78 million in Federal Impact Aid. We need your support to secure this important funding.
Survey cards go home on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Please be sure to complete and return them back to school. Waikīkī School strives for a 100% return rate every year. Mahalo for your cooperation.
A Note from our Front Office
A friendly reminder that all changes (i.e. Last name, custody, address, etc.) must be completed through the front office for all information in our Student Information System. Without your updated information, it will remain the same as when your child was first enrolled. Changes noted on an emergency card will not make any changes to our system as it is not considered a legal document, however it will be used to update current emergency contacts and medical information. Legal information needs to have appropriate legal documentation, and address changes require a proof of residency. If you have any questions please call the front office at 808-971-6900.
Waikiki School and Artists in the Schools (AITS)
The Artists in the Schools (AITS) Program is under the jurisdiction of the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA). AITS arts residency grants provide engaging, creative, and fun learning experiences based on the Fine Arts standards for all grade levels, through residencies with qualified, trained teaching artists from the Artistic Teaching Partners (ATP) Roster. Many of these teaching artists integrate their art form with other core curriculum areas, such as language arts, math, social studies, and science, meeting both Fine Arts and other core standards.
All state of Hawai‘i public schools and public charter schools, grades pre-K through 12, are eligible to apply for ONE arts residency grant annually. This year, schools can apply for a one-year or two-year long grant.
Waikiki School is fortunate to be longstanding recipients of the AITS grant. For the 2024-25, Mr. James McCarthy is working with our Kindergarten and 4th grade students in implementing "ALL TOGETHER NOW...AND THEN!," a creative arts and performing drama program focused on Laulima (working
together). Thank you Mr. James, and thank you to the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts for supporting Arts Education!

A free program sponsored by 'Aina Program from the Kōkua Hawaii Foundation, for grades K-5
REGISTRATION DEADLINE - WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 4TH, 2024
**NOTE: If your keiki were in Garden Club last school year, we will be giving priority to new applicants to give others a chance to be a Garden Clubber. We appreciate your understanding :)

Aloha and thank you for your interest in the After School Garden Club, 2024-25 at Waikiki School!
Please read carefully and fill out the registration form below - TWO PAGES - then submit.
With mindfulness and the environment in mind, I will forgo the paper forms and only do Google forms for registration.
Due to a possible large response of interest, we will do a lottery system for enrollment - a random selection process for determining which students will attend. The lottery system aims to give all applicants an equal chance of being admitted. A school lottery system only occurs when more students apply for admission than can be admitted.

DAY: Garden club will meet on Tuesdays each week.
PROGRAM START DATE: Tuesday, September 10th, 2024
PROGRAM END DATE: Tuesday, November 26th , 2024

Mahalo!
A few helpful details about Garden Club:
1.) Please bring a home snack and water bottle.
2.) *Please be on time to pick up your child *
3.) Please discuss with your keiki - this is garden club, NOT soccer, recess, art or any other program. They should be interested in the outdoors, gardens and nature. Thank you!
4.) Before keiki are dismissed, we will have clean up and they should always let me know they are leaving.
5.) No technology during garden club. Tech (phones, pads, etc) if brought to garden club, should be kept in backpacks until you are ready to leave/pick up. Tech is allowed for communicating with the adult who picks you up. Thank you!
* Please pick up your keiki on time. I totally understand sometimes running late or traffic, etc. Call me or text to let me know if you are running late. Ms Karla 808-232-9106. Three times of late pick up will sadly prompt a dismissal of your keiki from the program. Thank you!
