Halloween Around Edison
Thursday, October 31st
- Parade: A short "Halloween Parade" will take place beginning at 10:00AM on Thursday, October 31st. Weather permitting, we will parade out the main doors and around the building. Our Y5s & kindergarten students will lead the parade around each classroom and then out and around the building. All are welcome to come and watch our costume parade outdoors! (In the event of inclement weather, we will not be able to have any parent spectators for an indoor parade).
- Classroom Activities: Classrooms/grade levels will be planning for Halloween activities and celebrations individually, either before or after the parade. If teachers request parent volunteers to help facilitate the classroom activities, all volunteers will have to submit a Background Check.
- Costumes: Students may come to school in costume on Thursday, October 31st. They can stay in costume for the duration of the day. Costumes need to be school appropriate and cannot depict violence or excess blood/gore. No fake weapons are allowed in school (i.e. toy guns, swords, blades, etc). Costume masks can be worn for the parade, but not throughout the day. For costumes that have short skirts/shorts, leggings or pants need to be worn underneath.
October is Red Ribbon Month!
Wear Red Every Monday In October To Promote a Drug-Free Life!
National Red Ribbon month is set aside to bring awareness about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. During Red Ribbon Month we will learn the importance of being drug free.
In honor of Red Ribbon Month, we would like our students to try to wear red EVERY Monday in October.
The National Red Ribbon theme is “Life is a Movie, Film Drug Free”.
We look forward to promoting healthy lifestyle choices throughout the month!
Tiger's Spirit Day- Wednesday, 10/9
Because, Why Not?
Wear your Tigers gear or blue/orange on Wednesday, October 9th, as the Tigers take on the Guardians at Comerica Park! Go Tigers!

We are looking forward to having our teachers meet with you and your child during Edison's Student- Led Conferences. During this time, students will showcase their goals and academic progress. Wednesday, October 23rd from 4:30 to 7:30 PM
Thursday, October 24th from 1:00-3:30 PM & 4:30-7:30 PM

We look forward to seeing everyone at conferences!
Fraser Public Schools- Strategic Plan Survey & Community Meeting
Please Take Community Survey Using Link Below
We are excited to embark on the creation of our 2025-2030 Strategic Plan—a roadmap that will shape the next five years of excellence in Fraser Public Schools. This plan will continue to focus on our strong traditions of excellence by staying committed to our core values and beliefs - Innovate, Learn, Lead.
To ensure this plan reflects the needs and aspirations of all stakeholders, we are launching a community survey to gather input. The survey will remain open through October 1st, and we encourage all families, staff, students, and community members to share their thoughts. This is your chance to help shape the future of Fraser Public Schools, and we want to hear from you!
Canvas- Parent Sign Up/Support Opportunities
Canvas- Parent Access Sessions
Parents, if you're interested in receiving help accessing Canvas and/or creating parent accounts, we're trying to offer multiple opportunities, in the coming weeks, for parents to come in to receive assistance with accessing Canvas.
This week, we have Canvas: Parent Access Sessions taking place during specific timeframes on Thursday and Friday. Limited spots are available. Click the link below to sign up.
Please plan to arrive on time for your scheduled session and bring at least one device, if possible (phone, laptop, ipad, etc).
Parking Lot Reminders
Please Do Not Park/Idle/Stop in Marked Areas
- Unfortunately, we don’t have a “bus loop” at Edison, which also limits our ability for a curbside drop off/pick up lane. Our transportation department needs us to stop stopping/parking/idling in the areas marked with a red 'x' (essentially, every turn/curve of the lot) because the busses cannot get through.
- Please park in a designated parking spot at arrival and dismissal, while you wait to drop off/pick up your children.
- All Y5-2nd grade students must be picked up by an adult at their doors.
- 3rd-6th grade students are dismissed out their doors and may navigate the parking lot as their parents see fit. Please note, our staff does our best to help kids cross when possible, but we do not have designated crossing guards in our lot. The safest option will always be for parents to park, walk up, drop off/retreive their child(ren), and navigate the lot with their child(ren).
- At dismissal time, please don’t sit idle in driving lane while waiting for your student.
PTO Updates
Introducing Our PTO Officers
This year, our PTO will be led by the following officers. As always, we're so appreciative of the parents that take time out of their lives to enrich ours! Please consider joining forces with the amazing moms below to help make Edison a happier place!
- President: Sarah Moaut
- Vice President: Lisa Heckman
- Treasurer: Cierra Prophit
- Secretary: Melissa Loder
Our next PTO Meeting will take place on Thursday, November 14 at 6:00PM in the Edison Media Center.
A Few School Policies & Procedures To Make Note Of:
Attendance
Your child's lifelong school/work attendance habits are being deeply established right now. Parents should make every effort to get their child to school by 8:30AM each day and allow them to stay for the full duration of every day. Excessive absences, tardies, and early dismissals hugely impact a child's confidence, social interactions, and school performance.
Birthday Treats
Birthday students may bring store-bought, individually wrapped treats/snacks or trinkets to distribute to their classmates to be taken home. Please do not send in a tray of cupcakes, homemade baked goods, pizza, etc intending for them to be consumed at school- as many students have dietary restrictions that need to be closely monitored by their parents & school staff. All treats/trinkets will be sent home with students.
Cell Phones
Hot Food Deliveries
Please do not plan to drop off "hot lunches" for your child at lunch time. This includes parents/family members dropping off fast food and/or Door Dashing food for their children. It is very logistically challenging to ensure that your child receives the food delivery on time and often results in students spending much of their lunch period awaiting a delivery.
Free and Reduced Meals
The State of Michigan will provide a free breakfast and lunch for all students who want them throughout the 2024-2025 school year. Although not required, we do ask that families complete the Education Benefit Form located HERE. By doing so you help ensure the school receives additional funding.
