2023-2024 CogAT Testing Sign-Ups for JH students.
Dear Families,
You may request that your child take the Cognitive Ability Test (CogAT). If you wish to have your child participate in this round of testing, all requests must be made through this form by Sunday, March 10th. In order to decrease disruption to your child's instruction, this testing opportunity will take place on Friday, March 15th at 7:00 AM at Sycamore Junior High School. Participating students will miss a portion of the morning, due to testing.
Please note it is the parents' responsibility to provide transportation to school on the day of testing. Additionally, please ensure the correct parent email is entered as this is the email the district will use for communication.
Sincerely,

Culture & Climate Survey
Positive school climates are essential for creating the environment, resources, and relationships necessary for students to thrive. As part of our ongoing commitment to understanding and improving our school culture, Sycamore Community Schools is conducting a Culture & Climate survey for the second consecutive year.
This year, we've collaborated with SHP, a new third-party group, to administer the survey. The updated questions aim to provide a more nuanced understanding of our school environment, and SHP's expertise ensures a fresh perspective in collecting and analyzing valuable feedback.
Your opinions are crucial in shaping the direction of our school community. Please click here to begin the survey. The survey is designed to be anonymous, and no personal information will be collected.
To maintain the integrity of the results, SHP will be collecting and analyzing the responses, sharing their findings with the district. We appreciate your candid feedback and encourage you to complete the survey by Monday, March 11, 2024, at 11:59 pm.
Thank you for being an integral part of our commitment to creating safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments in Sycamore Community Schools.
Coffee Talk!
As part of our goal to increase family engagement, we began a series called, "Coffee Talk". At our February session we discussed "Learning Experiences" and the possibilities that COULD exist at Sycamore Junior High. As a result of this discussion, the group determined there should be a focus on field trips, cultural connections, and skill building for high school and career development. Our team will begin work on this--if you have interest in helping, please contact Greg Cole coleg@sycamoreschools.org
On March 14th at 9am, we will have our second session, this time discussing "Connecting with School". This will last about an hour and coffee/donuts will be provided!
Please RSVP so we know how many gallons of coffee/dozens of donuts to bring!

Important Notice: Student Safety During Pick-Up and Drop-Off
As we strive to maintain a safe and conducive environment for our students, I am reaching out to address a concern that has recently come to our attention. We kindly request your cooperation in ensuring the safety of all students during pick-up and drop-off times. Specifically, we urge you to avoid stopping in the crosswalk during these periods. Doing so not only poses a safety risk to our students but also obstructs access to ramps that are crucial for those with mobility challenges. By refraining from stopping in the crosswalk, you contribute to the smooth flow of traffic and help maintain clear pathways for students and staff alike. This small yet significant act of consideration goes a long way in fostering a safe and inclusive environment for everyone in our school community.
In addition to this, the left side of the driveway needs to be kept open for student safety. All students should enter cars from the curb area. Please pull all the way forward to the grassed area to avoid doubling up the line.
We understand that the hustle and bustle of drop-off and pick-up times can be hectic, but your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines is greatly appreciated. Together, we can ensure that our students arrive and depart from school safely each day.
