November 14th
A Message from Principal Wade
As we continue moving forward each day, I want to express my gratitude for your engagement, support, and commitment to our shared values and goals. While the results from the election may bring a range of emotions and perspectives, our focus remains on fostering a strong, inclusive community where everyone can thrive, where everyone is valued, where everyone is heard, where everyone belongs and where everyone is loved.
The staff at EDW is committed to creating and cultivating the community we know our scholars deserve, by empowering scholars and elevating their voice, by being responsive to scholar needs and by loving and celebrating their brilliance every single day. Their daily work directly impacts the lives of our scholars, families, and community in meaningful way just as your support and commitment impacts the lives of our scholars. Even as challenges arise, our commitment to fostering learning, equity, and well-being is unchanging. Let's continue building on the programs, partnerships, and practices that make a difference.
Our school community is stronger because of each member of the community, and together we will move forward with renewed hope, determination, and fortitude. Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to EDW, to our scholars and to each other.
With love and partnership,
Rebecca
Important Dates & Upcoming Events
November 1-30: Native American Heritage Month
November 14: PTA Meeting
November 28th & 29th: No School
Beginning next week we will highlight important pieces of these histories. As Dr. Maisha Winn says in Justice on Both Sides, "History Matters...and the infinite journey of all educators is to learn about the historical contexts that affect the schools and communities we teach in. The Histories that make us uncomfortable and force us to look critically at the ... dynamics that characterize our schools."
And so each week in November, we will learn, lean in to the Histories and celebrate by honoring the cultures, histories, futures and lasting contributions of Indigenous communities. As educators, we commit to creating inclusive learning environments and a culture that uplifts and empowers each scholar and their voice.
This week we will honor Madonna Thunder Hawk.
Madonna Thunder Hawk was born in 1940 on the Yankton Reservation in South Dakota is a Native American civil rights activist best known as a member and leader in the American Indian Movement, co-founding Women of All Red Nations and the Black Hills Alliance, and as an organizer against the Dakota Access Pipeline. She is a principal in the Warrior Women Project, a collective for the development of scholarship, media, and activism around indigenous women’s stories, and tribal liaison for the Lakota People’s Law Project. A veteran of every Native occupation from Alcatraz to Standing Rock, she became active in the late 1960s. Thunder Hawk was a member and leader in the American Indian Movement, co-founding Women of All Red Nations and the Black Hills Alliance. She has spoken around the world and was a delegate to the United Nations. She established the Wasagiya Najin Grandmothers’ Group on Cheyenne River Reservation to help rebuild kinship networks and partnered to develop the Simply Smiles Children’s Village, a community of Native foster families.

Spirit Wear Sale
Orders placed during this sale will be shipped from our location/delivered to the school no later than Friday, December 13th. If the order is shipping directly to a home through either UPS or USPS we cannot guarantee delivery dates provided by 3rd party carrier tracking services. We do not have control over carrier delays or inaccurate updates noted in tracking details, which we are expecting to happen once again this year. I would recommend encouraging your audience to get their holiday shopping done early during this sale period.
The last day we are accepting holiday/Christmas orders is Friday, 12/6/24. This will be advertised at the very top of your web store through the end of the year to make sure everyone is aware of the deadline.
Important: We are doing our best to remove any products that have stock issues ahead of this sale. However, due to the big shopping weekend we are expecting to see stock move fast. It will be unpredictable to which items will go out and when. We will continue to follow our process of reaching out to customers and helping them the best we can with next steps and second options if an item(s) from their order is no longer available. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while we do our best to navigate inventory challenges.
All of us at The Branding Wearhouse are looking forward to a great upcoming holiday season! With your help it will be the best one yet!
