This week, we continue to celebrate the achievements, partnerships, and events that make our district vibrant and inspiring. I am grateful for the dedication of our staff, students, and families who work together to create opportunities for growth and connection across Maple Run.
FY26 Budget Progress
On Monday, I had the opportunity to speak with Jan Appel and Jack McCarthy at the Franklin Democratic Chairs meeting about the FY26 MRUSD budget. It was an excellent turnout, filled with insightful questions and meaningful dialogue. I deeply appreciate the community’s engagement and thank everyone who participated in the conversation.
Wednesday evening brought another productive Board meeting, where we continued our work toward ensuring a strong financial plan that supports our students and staff. Your involvement and feedback remain invaluable as we move forward in this process.
Student and Community Highlights Across the District
BFA Winter Dance: On Friday, BFA students celebrated the season with their Winter Semi-Formal Dance at Saint Albans City Hall. It was wonderful to see students enjoying themselves outside of the classroom and to see so many faculty members joining in the fun. The energy, music, and togetherness made for a truly memorable evening.
Maple Run Art Show: The Collins Perley Sports & Fitness Center hosted the Maple Run Art Show, showcasing exceptional student artwork from across the district. The dedication, creativity, and talent on display highlighted the importance of the arts in our schools. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to this inspiring event.
Looking Ahead
As we continue into the coming weeks, I encourage everyone to stay involved in district updates and events. Your support is vital in shaping the future of our schools and ensuring we provide the best possible environment for learning and growth.

Episode 17: Reclaiming the Joys of Education with Jamie Bristol
In this episode of Tap Into Maple Run, we are thrilled to spotlight Jamie Bristol, BFA’s Engagement and Communication Coordinator. Jamie’s 24-year journey at BFA began as an English teacher, where she spent 21 years forming deep connections with students through one-on-one conversations and small group work. Her passion for building meaningful relationships has been a cornerstone of her career.
After seeing the mental health challenges that students faced post-pandemic, Jamie felt compelled to reclaim the joys of education. She now focuses on creating engaging events that foster a sense of community, such as the BFA Experience, which serves as the district's largest recruiting event for prospective students both in and outside of the district. Through her work, Jamie highlights BFA’s strong academic programs, extracurricular opportunities, and support services, all while building connections within the greater Maple Run and Franklin County communities.
A self-identified “project person,” Jamie thrives on creativity and hands-on learning. Her dedication to fostering relationships and creating vibrant educational experiences is a testament to her commitment to making education meaningful and enjoyable for all.
