Thank You Concord Families
We want to thank you for taking the time to fill out the PBIS Families Survey. We value your feedback and encourage you to volunteer within the school as well. Below, we've included the survey results and the volunteer form. If you didn't fill out the survey and want to do so, we'll be sending it home again in January and May.
Lessons Learned from the Bus Incident on 10/3/24
Concord families we are sorry that some of you had to figure out how to pick your children up on 10/3/24 and we hope that Butler's Bus Services will problem solve so that this does not occur again. We do thank our amazing teachers for staying late to help out.
We learned some things as a result of this situation.
1st: Our phone system didn't hold up to the call volume. Families were calling us but not all were not able to connect to the main office. We're working to figure this out. If you cannot reach us in these circumstance, please know that you can call 695-1200 or 695 1201 and get Mrs. West's and Mrs. Brown's extensions directly or you can email us at kwest@kingdomeast.org or angeliquebrown@kingdomeast.org. Please try to contact both Karen and Angelique when possible, in case the other is absent. Also, please know that in these circumstances, we'll ask students with cell phones to try to contact home as needed.
2nd: Many families have not entered emergency contacts into PowerSchool. It's essential that we have at least 3 contacts per student. If you do not know how to enter this information on your own, please call the school at 695-2550 and let Karen West know who your emergency contacts are.
3rd: It's essential that families and emergency contacts are listed in Power School because this is how we communicate through SchoolMessenger. If you have provided us with home phone numbers, cell phone numbers, and email addresses, you should receive SchoolMessenger calls or emails to all of the email addresses and phone numbers that you've provided. If you have not yet received a SchoolMessenger from us, you're not in Power School, and you MUST contact the school on Monday to ensure that you are receiving these messages. If you cannot read emails or listen to voicemail messages at all times during the school day, it is even more essential that you have a list of emergency contacts who can do this in your absence.

PBIS Celebration
Students earned their first whole school celebration in September. We had recess dance parties. The Limbo was really popular. Students are now working to earn a Fall Festival and a Spirit Week. We'll add information about the Fall Festival as soon as the Student Council finalizes their plans.
If earned, a spirit week will be held from October 28th to November 1st. The mission of redribbon.org is to keep children drug free. https://www.redribbon.org/
This year's theme is "Life is a movie. Film drug free."
Monday the 28th - "Team up against drugs." Wear your favorite sports apparel.
Tuesday the 29th - "Don't get mixed up with drugs." Wear mismatched clothes.
Wednesday the 30th -"Be kind to your mind. Live drug free." Wear red and we'll take a whole-school photo during Community Meeting.
Thursday the 31st - "Scare away drugs." Wear a costume to keep the drugs off set." Boo Bags will be handed out.

In order for students to attend, they must exhibit responsible, respectful, and safe behaviors in their own school communities. Therefore, anyone who has had a major impact referral, three minor referrals, or has been investigated and substantiated for harassment, hazing, bullying, or Title IX sexual harassment in the two weeks before a dance, will not be able to attend. Students who are not at school on the date of a dance are also ineligible to attend. The 2 week period for the Concord dance is 9/30/24-10/11/24.
School Meals & Beverages
Food & Drinks
Students may bring juice, tea, water or milk to school to have during a snack and/or lunch. Students may only consume water outside of snack and lunch times, unless they have a documented medical need. Students are encouraged to bring healthy snacks to consume during their scheduled snack break.
USDA School Beverage Guidelines define beverages as: unflavored low fat milk or flavored or unflavored nonfat milk or milk substitute or 100% fruit or vegetable juice, plain or carbonated water. Beverages will be kept within these parameters at all times. Soda and energy drinks will not be allowed throughout the school day.
The Kingdom East School District provides several opportunities for students to access healthy and nutritional food before, during, and after school. We have received federal grant funding for pre K-8th grade students to receive fresh fruit and veggie snacks during the week. Our students up to age 18 who stay after school receive a free after school expanded snack as well. Breakfasts and lunches are free this year for all students. The Abbey Food Service Group currently provides delicious, nutritious, and high quality meals to students and staff.
Adult breakfast and lunch prices are listed below. Please still fill out the Free and Reduced lunch application as it is used to determine eligibility to participate in a variety of child nutrition programs. Menus are sent home and are available online www.abbeygroup.net at the beginning of each month to help you plan in advance. Menus are subject to change.
