Financial Literacy @ Your Library
Want to learn more about financial literacy programming and resources that are available in your community? The Office of Library and Information Services and the Rhode Island Library Association are joining forces to assist librarians in developing and promoting financial education programs at libraries across the state.
Meet representatives from financial organizations who have partnered with libraries during RILA's Money Smart Week and can offer resources and programming. This is a great opportunity to learn more about financial education programs your library may offer during Money Smart Week, which will take place April 23-30, 2016.
Learn about the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) partnership with libraries. Printed resources will be available to libraries. Don't miss this opportunity to learn about the resources and programs available so that your library can join financial literacy awareness.

Children's Summer Reading Performer Showcase

The Performer's Showcase is your chance to meet area educators/performers interested in being a part of the annual statewide children's Summer Reading Program. In addition to observing 11 presentations, visit with other program providers setting up table top displays. This is your opportunity to provide feedback and offer your recommendations for the 2016 slate of programs offered statewide.
The booking meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 9 (snow date: February 23) at the Warwick Public Library.

Computer Coding with Scratch
Learn the fundamentals of computer coding using Scratch and Scratch Jr., free web-based software programs. FabNewport’s team will have you coding in no time. They will also coach librarians on best practices to implement coding programs and serving patron needs. We recommend you bring your own laptop but Chromebooks will be available.
This workshop is part of the Media Smart Libraries program which was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Attendance at this workshop could be applied to either the Access and Use or the Create and Collaborate digital badge. For any questions or concerns, please contact Mary Moen, Program Director.
