Wildcat Parent and School Community Newsletter
Dear Esteemed Parents and School Community,
I am pleased to announce that we have officially completed the initial six weeks of the academic year. As we progress, we can expect a more demanding curriculum and an elevated emphasis on accountability concerning classroom expectations.
I kindly request that you take a moment to encourage your children to strive for their utmost effort each day. This dedication encompasses various dimensions, including attentive listening, appropriate social interactions, adherence to instructions, and the application of the strategies they have acquired in their written assignments.
At this stage, our students have been thoroughly acquainted with the success criteria that will facilitate their ability to monitor and attain ongoing improvement.
I sincerely appreciate your continued support and commitment to the success of our students. Let us maintain our collaborative efforts toward achieving excellence.
Student and Parent Checklist for Success
We are steadfast in our commitment to ensuring the success of all students. While our days are filled with numerous responsibilities, it is imperative that we allocate time each day to support our children’s academic development. If each parent could dedicate just thirty minutes for academic engagement with their child daily, we could significantly enhance their growth and success in school.
To assist you in this endeavor, I would like to present several key practices that will help ensure our children thrive:
1. Designate a Homework Space: It is advisable to establish a specific area within your home dedicated to completing homework each day. This practice fosters a routine and minimizes distractions.
2. Weekly Folder Check Every Friday, kindly review your child’s take-home folder. Please pay close attention to graded assignments and any tasks that may require corrections or resubmission. Staying informed about their progress is crucial. If your child's folder does not come home or goes missing, contact your child's teacher.
3. Encourage Daily Reading: It is essential for children to read every day for a duration of 20-30 minutes. This habit is vital for enhancing their comprehension skills and nurturing a passion for literature.
4. Homework Oversight: Please ensure that your child’s homework is completed thoroughly and submitted on time. Your active participation underscores the importance of responsibility and accountability. Your child has homework every M-Thursday.
5. Assess Understanding: Regularly verify your child’s comprehension of key concepts. Engaging them in discussions about their lessons will provide valuable insights into their understanding of the material.
6. Celebrate Successes: Always commend your child and acknowledge their achievements, regardless of size. Such encouragement significantly contributes to building their confidence and motivation, especially when they encounter challenges.
Together, let us commit to fostering a nurturing learning environment for our children. We appreciate your continued partnership in their education.

Report Cards - 1st Six Weeks- September 27
We would like to formally notify you that Report Cards are only accessible to all families through the Parent Portal. It is imperative to understand that all FWISD parents are required to access report cards online. We will send home hard copies by October 2nd. Please look for these in your child's folder.
Should your child currently be facing academic difficulties, we strongly recommend scheduling a meeting with their teacher. Teachers will be available to confer with the parents of students who are not meeting academic standards during the progress report timeframe.
Furthermore, please be advised that continued failing grades may result in potential student retention. We encourage you to remain informed and actively engaged concerning your child’s academic performance.

Attendance Matters
I want to emphasize the importance of punctuality for student success at FWISD Elementary Schools.
Research shows that students who arrive on time are more likely to succeed academically. Our instructional activities start promptly at 7:50 am.
Students arriving after this time will be marked late, and frequent late arrivals can hinder their progress. To address this, we may reach out to parents through calls or home visits.
Your support in ensuring timely arrivals is crucial for our students' achievements. Thank you for your cooperation.

9 Week Quarterly Assessments
I want to inform you that your child will participate in quarterly assessments in Mathematics, Reading, Science, and Social Studies for grades K-5.
These assessments will be conducted in the classroom unless specific accommodations are needed. Please encourage your children to do their best, as these assessments are key for understanding learning needs.
