Brief Message From the Principal

Dear JES Community,

Next Week we celebrate American Education Week! This is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the importance of education and honor the dedication of our teachers, staff, and families. Here are some ways we’ll celebrate together:

Staff Treat Day: Parents and guardians are invited to bring in snacks or treats for the staff workroom one day during the week. Quick grab-and-go treats can be a wonderful way to lift spirits and show appreciation.
Thankful for Our Staff Members: Students will have a chance to write thank-you notes to their teachers, sharing why they appreciate them.
School Spirit Day: We’ll wrap up the week with a school-wide spirit day to show our pride in being part of the Jayhawk community!

Be Weather Aware:

While we’ve been enjoying unusually warm temperatures here in Mound City for this time of year, we know that Kansas weather can change quickly! As we approach late November, it’s important for our students to be prepared for those chilly mornings and sudden drops in temperature. We encourage families to start sending students with warm coats, hats, and gloves so they’re comfortable and ready for outdoor activities, no matter the weather.

We appreciate your help in ensuring all our Jayhawks stay warm, safe, and prepared for whatever the forecast brings our way!

Progress Reports:

We’re excited to share that student progress reports are being emailed home today! These reports give a great overview of your child’s achievements and areas for growth so far this year. If you would prefer to receive a printed hard copy instead, please feel free to email your child’s classroom teacher anytime next week, and we’ll be happy to send it home in your child’s school folder.
