HV Update 11-22-2024

Dear HV Families,

The weather certainly changed this week! Although we were inside for recess yesterday and today, it seems fall may finally be here. It's likely time to get out the winter coats, hats, and gloves. It's always a good idea to put an extra pair of socks in your child's backpack, in case their feet get wet during recess.

We have a short week on the horizon. Monday and Tuesday are full days. Wednesday is an early dismissal day at 12:40 P.M. Please make dismissal plans on Wednesday to ensure your child is picked up on time. No lunch will be served on Wednesday. The HSA is providing donuts for the students and there is an allergy friendly option available. School will be closed on Thursday and Friday for Thanksgiving.

Important reminders as we near the peak of cold and flu season:

• Flu activity begins to rise in October and usually peaks between December and February
• Your child has a fever if the temperature is >/= 100.4
• Keep your child home until fever-free for 24 hours without the need to take fever-reducing medication
• If nausea/vomiting/diarrhea related to illness- keep your child home until 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea
• Keep home if your child is not able to participate in school activities due to general malaise, fatigue, discomfort, weakness or muscle aches
• Encourage hand-washing
• Learn information about Flu vs. Covid
• Learn information about the stomach bug

Artist Caren Olmsted will be returning to Hillview this school year for another wonderful mural project. It will be located in the gym wing of the school and will be a permanent feature. If you are interested in having a paw print painted with your families name, child’s name, class’s name, etc., click the link below to place an order. Please note we will not be able to add paws once the mural has been started. Leave your legacy on Hillview

All Hillview students along with parent volunteers, will participate in painting this exciting mural project. Keep a lookout later this year for a sign up to come help the students paint the mural.
