May 2022 #ourcorgitale
Message from Dr. Fay & Mrs. Henson
Dear Crossroads Community,
Did you just see what happened? It is May! With that, May brings us into a very important week of appreciation: Teacher Appreciation Week. All week long, from May 2 to May 6, we will celebrate and appreciate our teaching staff. Our PTA has really stepped it up with something special every single day.
Our teaching staff works so very hard to make sure our students learn and grow. Please do everything you can to thank a teacher for all they do to make Crossroads awesome. You can write a thank you card, send a kind email, give a gift, etc. Our teachers would appreciate any kind gesture!
Thank you, Crossroads teachers!
It is now the time of year where we are all itching to get to June 2, the last day of school. I can tell the students are filled with excitement and energy. We all know though we have to give it our all until the last bell rings to release us all into the joys of summer. Please remind your children to continue through the remainder of the school year with Corgi Pride: Caring, Respectful, and Responsible.
Speaking of the last day of school. This year we will have our traditional Clap Out celebration for both our 6th and 5th grade students as well as any staff who are moving on from Crossroads. We will also be inviting our Liberty High School graduating seniors to participate as well. More details to come about the logistics of the Clap Out in the next few weeks.
Have a great rest of the school year!

Raptor Security System Information
Part of keeping students and staff safe is knowing who is in our building at all times, so we are rolling out a system to allow us to do just that. Starting January 24, 2022, WSD visitors will check in to our buildings using Raptor, a new visitor management system designed to assist with building security.
What does that mean for you?
When you arrive in a WSD building as a visitor, you will be asked to scan your ID, take a photo and complete the management system’s check-in process.
Raptor will screen the information against sex offender databases and locally customized lists of banned or potentially threatening individuals, instantly alert school officials to a threatening presence, and maintain a searchable log of all visitors.
Once approved, you will get a customized visitor badge to wear while in the building.
Thank you for your support as we roll this out and enhance school safety protocols!
Parents or guardians who are only picking up a child for the day will not need to use the visitor management system.
Arrival and Dismissal - Please Read Carefully
All of our car riders and our daycare van riders will go to the gym at the end of the day. Once in the gym, a staff member will call students’ names over the radio for them to come out to meet their vehicle. A staff member will escort students to each car.
PLEASE READ: We are no longer allowing parents to walk up to get their children. You will need to drive through the pick-up line.
We sent home lime green car tags with all students on their first day of school, 8/24. If you need additional tags, please check in the main office. ***PLEASE USE A THICK MARKER TO FILL THESE OUT***
When you drive through the car lanes, please have the lime green car tag on your dashboard where we can see the names of your students. If you do not have the car tag, we will have to check your ID, radio the office, and wait for them to clear you before we can call your child out. As you can imagine, this will slow down the process for everyone.
A few other things to keep in mind with this process: Please remember, we do not accept dismissal changes after 3:00 pm. Also, our primary focus is student safety and 3:20 is a critical time when children can potentially get lost in the shuffle; it is imperative that we streamline the secretaries’ time to focus only on emergencies that arise. With that in mind, please understand that we will not permit access to the office after 3:20 to check out a student. Please plan accordingly so we aren’t caught in the position to have to tell you no. Also, remember that you are responsible for calling in to change if your walker will become a car rider during the days with inclement weather. We will no longer be sending a text about rainy day dismissals.
If you have any questions or thoughts, please let us know.
Please review our arrival and dismissal maps below:
Message from Nurse Maddie
We have seen an uptick in positive cases again. I wanted to give a reminder since we haven’t had to think about it in a few months just to remind ourselves of the procedures.

PTA Update!
Hi Corgis!
Thank you to everyone who supported our Oberweis, That Burger Joint and Woodgrain Neapolitan Pizzeria dining night last month. It was a fun night! We hope to see you for our next dining event on May 9 from 3:00pm to close at Town Square Pub & Grub. Make sure to mention Crossroads and show your flyer when you dine in or pick up takeout.
We had an amazing day on April 23 at our 20th Anniversary Celebration! The wind didn't keep us from celebrating in a big way. We had carnival games, food trucks, live music, performances from LHS Drumline and Cheerleaders, a petting zoo, an obstacle course and so many more incredible activities. There were displays of local history, Crossroads history along with photos of our staff from 20 years ago and we buried a time capsule to be opened in 20 years. We also honored the 10 staff members who have been with Crossroads since the beginning and visited with many staff members from over the years.
Thank you to all who attended and helped to make the day so special! Check out our Facebook page to see photos from the event. We couldn’t have made the day what it was without a lot of support. Thank you to all of the volunteers who made this day happen. It was a true team effort and couldn't have been a success without the dozens of people who pitched in. We also had a lot of support from the business community. Thank you to Calvert and Williams, Stacey’s Gymnastics, LHS Drumline and Cheerleaders, Incredible Engravings, Lowe’s Lake St. Louis and Cool Touch Graphics for your donations.
An extra special thank you to our team captains, Kelly Hartnett and Carrie Branson. As our Social Events Chairs this year, they have put together truly incredible events for our Corgi Community and we've been so lucky to have them. Thank you both for going above and beyond for our school!
Welcome to Camp Corgi!

You Shop, The School Gets Paid!
Did you know that when you shop on Amazon, it’s easy for Crossroads to get a small percentage from your purchase? All you have to do is shop through AmazonSmile instead of Amazon. Once you’ve set up your account, your shopping experience will be identical. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice. Crossroads Elementary PTA would be grateful to be the charity you choose. Go to smile.amazon.com to get started. Once you’ve set this up, it’s easy to set up your Amazon app to link to AmazonSmile as well.
