Principal Message
Dear Alta Mesa Families,
We are in the last stretch before we are off for Spring Break! It's a very busy last week before we go though, so buckle up!
First, we have our Family Literacy Night on Thursday evening from 5:30-7:00. This night is meant for families to come and enjoy a meal and some literacy activities together. We will be having "Magical Mac and Cheese" from the Bantam and we will be handing out Harry Potter themed prizes. So come on down to the Alta Mesa Gym on Thursday evening!
Art Club permission slips are available this week. Art Club will be for Kindergarten-3rd grade students and will start after Spring Break. Mrs. Walsh will be running the Kindergarten and 1st grade art club, and Mrs. Duke will be running the 2nd and 3rd grade art club. Sign-ups are due by Friday.
This week we will be having dress-up days to celebrate our last week of Literacy Month. Here are the dress-up days:
Monday: Sorting Hat Day - wear a funny hat
Tuesday: Knock Your Socks Off - wear crazy or mismatched socks
Wednesday: Doppelganger Day - find a friend and dress the same (twin day)
Thursday: Magical Shirt Day - wear a bright colored shirt
Friday: Wear your Alta Mesa Shirt
Mr. Havlina will be running a 3rd grade basketball camp in the spring for aspiring basketball players. Camp will start after Spring Break and permission slips are available in the office this week and due back Friday.
Finally, on Thursday will be our 3rd Grade Wax museum in the Alta Mesa Gym. . Parents are invited to walk through the museum from 12:30-1:00. Parents can enter the gym directly for the museum.
It's going to be another great week here at Alta Mesa!

Literacy Month Reading Log
During the month of March we will be holding our reading challenge for the Alta Mesa Eagles! Every week parents must fill out the form by Thursday evening and submit every week to ensure your child receives their prize.
Here are the required minutes for each class level:
Schmitt, Walsh, Tuggle- 40 mins
Randolph, King, and Eisses- 60 mins
Duke and Havlina- 80 mins
Haag and Brewer-100 mins
Huelman 4th and McNeely-120 mins
Huelman 5th and Lindsley- 160 mins

Literacy month starts March 4th and will go through March 29th. Please make sure to complete your student's weekly reading log online in order for them to receive the weekly reading incentives. This year our theme will be Harry Potter!

3rd Grade Wax Museum ~ 3/28/2024
Living wax museums are an immersive (and downright cute) way for your students to learn about historical figures and their contributions to society.
Inviting all 3rd grade parents to Alta Mesa on Thursday, March 28th from 12:30-1:00 for the Wax Museum! You're students have been working hard and are excited to show you what they have been doing!
Vocabulary Parade ~ 3/28/2024
We look forward to this day every year and we hope you do too! Vocabulary parades are a wonderful way to celebrate our love of words and reading. It also provides a fun and academic focus for dressing up in creative homemade costumes.
This year our Vocabulary Parade is on March 28th from 1:00 - 2:00 and families are welcome to come join us in the fun!

Yearbooks!
Yearbooks are on sale starting Monday, January 22nd. This year the yearbooks will be purchased from the school, not online. If you would like to purchase a yearbook, please bring cash or a check (made payable to Alta Mesa School) to the office. Please see the flyer below for more information.
