Week of May 19th
Hood's Highlight
As we reach the end of this remarkable school year, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude and share some reflections on our journey together. It has been a truly wonderful first year for me as your principal, and I am immensely proud of the progress we have made as a school.
This year has been filled with learning, growth, and positive changes. Together, we have fostered a nurturing and dynamic environment where our students have thrived academically, socially, and emotionally. Our dedicated teachers have embraced innovative teaching methods, and our students have shown incredible resilience and enthusiasm in their learning.
One of the highlights of this year has been the introduction of new events and initiatives that have brought us closer as a community. From our revamped curriculum nights to our engaging school-wide projects, the spirit of collaboration and enthusiasm has been truly inspiring. These positive changes have set a strong foundation for even greater achievements in the coming years.
Looking ahead, I am excited about the opportunities for further growth and development. We are committed to continuing our journey of improvement, striving for excellence in every aspect of our school. A key focus for us next year will be to increase parent involvement in our school community. We believe that your active participation is vital to our success, and we are eager to open up more events and activities for parents to join.
Thank you for your trust, support, and partnership throughout this year. Together, we have achieved so much, and I am confident that with your continued involvement, we will reach even greater heights. I wish you all a restful and enjoyable summer break, and I look forward to welcoming you back for another exciting year of learning and growth.

Option 1- prepay each week or for the entire month
Option 2- payment must be made daily, to continue to stay in the program.
Customer invoices need to be cleared down to a zero balance. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for all your help!
Upcoming Dates:
May 21st: PBIS Celebration
May 24th: End of Year Parties
Title 1: Parent Engagement
If you would like to volunteer at future events, email Tracy Wilson, our parent involvement coordinator for more information!
Daily Procedures:
*Doors open at 7am.
*The car rider entrance door will close at 7:55. There is little to no line between 7:00-7:30, so if you want to come at a time with little to no wait that's the window for you!
*Class time and attendance are important! This year our tardy bell will ring at 7:55 and instruction will start at 8:00. It is important that your student arrives on time so they aren't missing any key instruction.
*If your student is absent please send a note from either the doctor or write a parent note. We will take up to 5 parent notes each semester.
*Transportation changes can be emailed to rps_office.rps@catoosa.k12.ga.us any changes need to come with a picture of the guardians photo id, and need to be submitted before 1:00pm.
*For both morning and afternoon car rider line everyone should enter and exit to Holcomb Road by Evitt Lane only, not from Poplar Springs or the RES side.
Updated Visitor Information
All visitors must…
Get buzzed in through the front entrance doors
Sign-in using Ident-a-Kid through the computer in the front office
Wear their visitor badge at all times in the building
Sign-out using Ident-a-Kid through the computer in the front office
If you are eating breakfast with your student and have a sibling from the other school, both students need to be dropped off at their respective school, and the parent needs to sign-out in the same front office that you signed-in from. Please do not enter from one building and exit from the other.
For special events on our campus with a large number of visitors at one time, all sign-in procedures will be done through a paper format instead of through Ident-a-Kid.
Thank you for following these procedures to ensure our students’ safety.

URGENT URGENT URGENT
If your child is currently enrolled in Medicaid or Peach Care health coverage you must take action NOW to ensure your child's coverage remains active.
To learn more and to update your child's eligibility please visit staycovered.ga.gov and click on the green "Visit Gateway" box. You can also click on "Medicaid Members" at the top left of the page for more information. This is an easy process now but will be more complicated after May.
REMINDER that all treats (cupcakes, etc) that are sent into school for parties and celebrations must be labeled with the list of ingredients. This is for safety purposes as we have many students with various food allergies. Thanks for your support.
Guidelines for sending a child back to school following an illness:
A fever is considered a temperature of 100.4 or higher. If a child has been sick with fever, vomiting or diarrhea they should NOT return to school until they have been fever free, no vomiting or diarrhea for a 24 hour period without the use of any medications.
Safety
At RPS, our number one priority will always be the safety of students and staff. Some of the procedures may seem inconvenient, but they are necessary and we hope that you will understand and be patient with us.
- If you would like to enter RPS, you must bring your ID.
- Parents are required to drop students off in the car rider line instead of walking students to class. No visitors will be allowed in hallways during arrival.
- If you would like to eat breakfast with your child, please bring your ID and sign in at the front office for a visitor's pass. This pass will allow you entrance to the cafeteria only. Once you eat with your child, please sign out at the front office. Your child will walk to class by themselves (we have monitors on duty to assist).
- All exterior doors remained locked throughout the day and we use a buzz in system for visitors.
- Classroom doors also remain locked.
