Parent University

Report Cards and Conferences
November 4th marks the end of the 1st marking period in BPCS. A systemwide message will be shared with students and families reminding them to check their child’s grades when reports cards are available in FOCUS on November 14th. Parent University offers resources to prepare for this time of year when families are observing classrooms, viewing report cards, and meeting with teachers during conferences.
Take time to prepare for conferencing by reviewing the report card with your child. Here are a few tips: Talking to Your Child About Their Report Card

Lunch & Learn: E-CPR
November 15 - 12:30 PM
Virtual
Presented by BCPS Office of Mental Health Services
We know young people often turn to their friends first when they are having an emotional crisis. However, many teens may not think they have the skills to be prepared to support a friend in crisis. This training will help families learn ECPR - Emotionally Connect Partner and Respond when faced with someone who is experiencing a mental health emergency/emotional crisis. You will learn some warning signs to look out for and have the opportunity to work through some scenarios to practice some of the strategies that will be taught. You know CPR can help to save a life, so can ECPR!
This 60-minute presentation is for adults. Information to join will be shared via email 24 hours before the event. This event was originally scheduled for October 12th and was reschedule to this new date.

What is Parent University
Parent University is offered through the BCPS Office of Family and Community Engagement, which we affectionately call FACE! We provide tools and resources to BPCS families to support learning at home. In the past, before social-distancing, one of the ways we offered these resources was through in-person workshops hosted by community members and schools. We also have a large collection of online resources that are available as we navigate through this incredibly unique time in our lives. We hope you enjoy what we have to share.
