The Turkey Trot is now on Friday, December 6th at 8:00 am. Parents, if you want to join us in cheering on your student, please join us on the upper blacktop after school starts. Thank you!

Your students should have brought home a FREE dental screening form. If you would like your child to be included in the dental screening, we need that permission form returned no later than Tuesday, December 10. If you need a new form, we have some extra's in the office. All kindergarten students will receive the screening UNLESS we receive the signed form from you opting out of the screening. If you have any questions, please reach out to our office at 916-979-8228.

We invite you to our school winter performance! Students have worked hard and are eager to show you. Join us on Wednesday, Dec 18th, at 1:15 PM in the cafeteria. Your support means a lot to them and us! We hope to see you then!

Hello Families,

Getting back into routine is tough. We have had 40 - 50 students late every day this week. Being on time helps students build healthy habits for their future. Students learn better when they have plenty of time to have breakfast with us and play with their friends prior to school starting..

Pro-Tip: Try setting an earlier morning alarm (15 minutes) all of next week. It can make mornings smoother!

At pick up time, we are asking that ALL parents stay in front of the flagpole while waiting for your students. When the bell rings, you may walk on campus and grab your student from class but before the bell rings, PLEASE stay in front of the flagpole. Some of the reasons for this:

1. Students can easily be distracted from their learning if they see their parent outside the classroom
2. Staff and students may be needing to use tables/areas outside classrooms for academic or behavioral interventions
3. Student confidentiality/privacy - this is especially important near our restrooms

We love having PE this year! We would like if you could help us by reminding your child on PE days, to wear tennis shoes. We have students in crocs trying to participate in PE and it can be dangerous with them running around and playing. Thank you so much for your help!

Please be sure to check our lost & found rack. When our days start chilly and end warm, we get an overwhelming number of jackets and sweatshirts left at school. We just donated over 40 unclaimed items to charity!

Any San Juan Unified parents/guardians or community members who want to complete the fingerprinting process to sign up to volunteer at our schools, but are unable to make an appointment during the business day, are invited to our walk-in volunteer fingerprint clinic. The clinic takes place on Thursday, Dec. 5, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the District Office Board Room, located at 3738 Walnut Avenue in Carmichael. Fingerprinting is provided free of charge. Applicants must bring a valid photo ID.

Would you like to be a volunteer in your child's class? Drive on a field trip? Help out on campus? Please follow the directions on the link below to start the process!

Note: If you started the process but did not receive any communication on when to schedule your fingerprinting, please go ahead and move onto step 4 and set up your fingerprinting appointment. Thank you so much for your patience!

Come join us in coordinating and planning events here at Ottomon! Our PTA has created a way to sign up electronically! It takes less than 90 seconds!

Three things to do in Parent Portal:

1. Please verify all phone numbers and addresses are correct. This is really important so you receive our communication and we can contact you if your child is ill or has an emergency.
2. View your child's teacher. You can also find this out at the Meet the Teacher BBQ on Monday, August 7 or find out the first day of school!
3. Fill out the school funding form. Even if you do not eat school breakfast or lunch, this funding really helps our school! Thank you!
