Monday Kick-Off
Horn Frog Nation
July 29, 2024
Dear Family,
It is my honor and pleasure to welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year! I hope you took some time to relax, rest, and recharge. Of course have a little fun too. I am extremely proud to serve as the Principal of this amazing learning community, and to continue to support you and our students.
This year our theme is "Improvement begins with I", Arnold H. Glasow. "The idea that "improvement begins with I" is not anything new, but it doesn't hurt to be reminded from time to time, that for change to happen it needs to start with ourselves (Nigale, I. (2018, August 6). Into the loop: The edurio step-by-step guide to evidence-driven school improvement. Medium. https://medium.com/edurio/step-0-getting-ready-ed2d294a10d0) ". As a school, we will be infusing this concept in all we do, but let's start with these questions, what does my "awesome" look like; what does our "awesome" look like?
To Do's:
- Begin or complete your required annual training and upload your certificates to Eduphoria.
- Engage in professional learning opportunities (3 R's: Respectful, Responsible, Ready)
- Plan class routines, and expectations, all with the goal of fostering academic success and a true sense of connectedness and belonging for our students.
- Our primary goal is to ensure student proficiency in core academic subjects, so we will continue to refine Tier I instruction, analyze data, conduct observations, and review classwork to guide instruction and intervention. (PLC & DDI)
- We will engage all of our students in Project Based Learning.
- We will work together to create a solid foundation for our students so that they have the opportunity to become self-directed learners, collaborative teammates, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens.
- Our PD plan for the week of August 5 - 9.
"Though you can't always drive improvements through other people and sometimes not even through a team. You can always be an example of Improvement. Remember the way the word is spelled says it the best, "IMPROVEMENT BEGINS WITH I." - Lean Strategies International LLV
With gratitude,
Dr. Wendy Gamble

Essential Five
Vision-Mission-Essential Five
We will maximize the time that we do have with our students and focus on the Essential Five.
- Identify desired results
- Determine acceptable evidence
- Plan learning experiences & instruction
2. Prioritize small group instruction over whole group instruction.

3. Post & review learning targets everyday with your students.
- Tell them what you want them to learn, and how they will know they learned it.
4. Model the concept or skill.
- Always provide plenty of practice together and independently.
- Questioning
- Observations
- Monitoring small group discussions
- Facilitate small group instruction
