Have a Wonderful Holiday Break!

Friday, December 20, 2024
Dear Avon Lake City Schools Community,
The Avon Lake City Schools wishes you all an enjoyable winter break. A few updates and matters of importance are included in this email below. Thank you for reading. Please keep in mind that the ALCS Central Office will be closed from Tuesday, December 24th through Wednesday, January 1, 2025. We will reopen on Thursday, January 2nd for normal business.
Holiday Activities and Care for Others!
The generosity and thoughtfulness of the individuals and organizations who comprise our school district was on full display this week. Student groups, the PTA, our families, and others helped to usher in the holidays with spirited activities, performances, and acts of kindness and generosity. Those who witnessed the vocal performances of our students during various concerts observed their singing with contentment and great talent. Gift-purchasing and present-giveaways demonstrated the holiday spirit of the staff and families in our district. Collections for those in need showcased how the Avon Lake City Schools community comes together during this special time of the year to help others who may need a little extra support. For these things, I am grateful to everyone.
Presentations from Board of Education Meeting Posted Online
This past Tuesday, the Avon Lake City Schools Board of Education held its regular December meeting during which several important discussions took place regarding an update of district finances, options for the future consideration of building new facilities and their impact on operating costs, and current renovation scenarios. The conversation centers around these matters as well as the potential for a May ballot measure. The ALCS encourages you to review these presentations which are now posted on the home page of the district website and can be found here.
Thank You for Those Who Participated in Survey
Thank you to the individuals who took the time to participate in the survey conducted on behalf of the Avon Lake City Schools. The period of data collection unfolded smoothly, and the professionals involved were encouraged by the willingness of the community to participate and engage in a timely fashion. The results of the survey are being analyzed at the present time and will be shared with the community in the coming weeks.
