Ridgeview Review Weekly
December 15th, 2024
Good Evening, Bobcats!
I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! We have an exciting week planned at Ridgeview. Please view our Spirit Week Flier for more information about the theme for each day. We also have our Basketball Jamboree scheduled for Friday which is a fun event where students play basketball against staff for friendly competition. I have been told that the staff have an impressive winning streak, and I certainly do not have any plans in that ending this year!
Huge shout out to Mrs. Chiles, Mr. Proszkow, and all the incredible musicians for your amazing concerts this past week. It was evident by the amount of families and friends in attendance that you worked very hard to put on such great shows. Job well done to all involved to make our winter concerts such a big success. Great job!
As we get closer to Winter Break, it is a time for us all to reflect on our role in ensuring Ridgeview is a place where everyone feels a sense of belonging. Together with MCPS, we will continue to follow protocol to responding to incidents of hate bias if and when they do occur. Please review the various ways to report incidents of hate bias if you ever have any concerns:
Staff Members of the Month
Mrs. McLaughlin
Mrs. McLaughlin always goes above and beyond as the head of our counseling department to provide support for our students' social emotional well-being needs. She collaborates with staff, students, and parents to ensure Ridgeview is a place where everybody feels safe and a secure sense of belonging. Thank you for all you do, Mrs. McLaughlin!!
Mrs. Newlands
Mrs. Newlands supports Ridgeview as our Parent Community Coordinator (PCC). She works tirelessly to ensure our Hispanic families have access information and stay current with communication and upcoming events. Mrs. Newlands is a vital member of our school community, and supports both students and families. Thank you for all you do, Mrs. Newlands, we could not do this without you!
New School Menu Platform
On Sunday, December 8th Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will launch the new interactive menu platform for school breakfast & lunch menus. Currently, the website makes school menus available via PDF. MealViewer will greatly enhance information sharing with students and families, providing mobile and browser-friendly menus with real-time updates and item-specific nutritional and allergen information. It is also possible (however not required) to rate foods, star favorites, utilize a nutrition calculator, and create a profile. MealViewer can be accessed via a browser or the MealViewer app on Android or iPhone. No signin or passwords are required to view menus. The Division of Food & Nutrition Services (DFNS) central and school-based staff are trained on MealViewer and are available to support as necessary. Students, caregivers, school staff, nurses, and community members will have digital access to menus and meal information. Please take a moment to view the following links: MCPS MealViewer Introductory Video, How to print a menu, Nutrition Calculator, and Ridgeview MS School Mealview Menu page.
