Second Semester Success!
Happy New Year, Eagle Community!
I truly hope everyone was able to enjoy a relaxing and rejuvenating holiday season. With the start of a new semester, I wanted to remind everyone of the following agreements from our school handbook to ensure an engaging environment focused on student achievement.
1) We trust all of our students to manage their electronic devices appropriately during the school day. In the event a device is used during instructional time, it will be handled as follows:
First infraction - Classroom teacher will record and conference with the student
Second infraction - Classroom teacher will record, assign one detention, and notify the parent/guardian
No Cell - Bell to Bell!!!
2) LCHS is a very busy place before and after school with approximately 1,200 students getting in and out of the building at the same time! Students should arrive in time to get to their classroom by the bell. I would recommend arriving a minimum of 15 minutes before first period. Students who arrive late to school will not be allowed to bring in prepared food and drink, ex: Starbucks, Dunkin' McDonald's, etc. These items will be held by administration and students can pick them up during lunch periods or at the end of curricular day.
3) D117 does not allow outside food or drink to be dropped off by parents, guardians, door dash, Uber Eats, etc. for students during the curricular day.
Together, we can all ensure our students have the best opportunity for achieving their dreams!
Wishing you all the best in 2025!
Jori Bowen, Principal
Happy New Year! Here are some important Semester 2 reminders:

Erin's Law and Sexual Abuse Prevention Presentations in PE Classes
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week on Wednesday and Thursday, January 8th and 9th each sophomore and senior will receive a sexual assault prevention and awareness presentation in their PE classes. Juniors will attend a presentation entitled Teen Assault Prevention Program by trained staff from the Zacharias Center. Both presentations were created in accordance with Erin’s Law, Public Act 96-1524, a state-mandated, age-appropriate sexual abuse/assult awareness and prevention education program. The topics discussed in this program include sexual assault/abuse, consent vs. compliance, victim-blaming, and how/where to get support, and a copy of the presentation will be shared with families. The purpose of the program is for students to recognize and cope with potentially difficult or risky situations.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at kyle.naughton@chsd117.org.
Thank you,
Kyle Naughton
