Good morning all, if you are reading this you have survived. I don’t know about you, but I’m exhausted. With what we all lived through the last few semesters, no matter what your duties on campus, you have been tried in ways you probably never expected. Yet here we are, and we got through it.

I am your new chapter president, and I look forward to learning the lesson with you. We now have a great opportunity, a once in a lifetime opportunity, to rebuild from the ashes of this adversity. Together, united, there is nothing we cannot accomplish. I pledge myself to goals of our institution, to education, and to the greater good we all serve. When we all look out for each other, we will all thrive.

Please let me know what I can do for you, in this, my newest opportunity to improve my performance.

UUP is in communication with SUNY and the Governor’s Office of Employee Relations about plans for the Fall 2021 campus reopening, with employee vaccination policies as a possible topic of discussion. To help us prepare for those discussions, please take a few minutes to provide us with your perspective on COVID-19 vaccinations.

The survey is anonymous and takes five minutes or less to complete. Whether you have been vaccinated or not, whether you support vaccination or not, it is important that we hear from you.

This survey is intended for all UUP professionals and academics-- part time and full time, contingent and noncontingent.

While summary results may be shared with SUNY administration, individual responses will be viewed only by UUP.

Dear UUP Potsdam members:

Right now, states across the country are proposing Jim Crow-style voting restrictions, from massive voter roll purges to onerous new ID requirements that are hard for low-income and Black and brown people to meet. Between just January and May of this year, 14 states passed 22 laws to restrict voting rights, a record.

Together, we can fight back against this voter suppression. Join our massive virtual town hall with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on Wednesday, June 16 @ 7:30pm ET to learn how.

This town hall is about the For The People Act, which will protect and expand our democracy. We’ll hear the latest update on where the legislation stands in the Senate, get answers on how the bill impacts you, and how to take action to get the bill passed.

Critically, the #ForThePeopleAct also creates independent redistricting commissions to prevent partisan gerrymandering. We have just weeks left to pass it before states start redistricting.
