Meet Our New Clerk...
We are thrilled to welcome Tiffani Barthelmes to the Jones team. As many of you know our previous clerk Ms. Ruth Bustamante took an extended leave of absence to care for a family member. As that leave has continued, we will now have consistency in our front office with Mrs. Barthelmes.
Mrs. Barthelmes will likely be the first face you see when entering the office or the first voice you hear when calling the school. She is here to support questions you may have, daily attendance, new student enrollment, records requests, Independent Study Contracts, and so much more. She can be reached by calling our Front Office at 619-605-8800 or emailing tbarthelmes@sandi.net.
Need to Verify Attendance?
School is critical to building a strong foundation for learning that will help your child succeed in middle school, high school and beyond. You cannot make up for too many absences with homework or take-home assignments and interactions between the teacher and peers cannot be replicated outside of the classroom. Help your child succeed by making sure they are in school every day!
The California Education Code (Article 6, Chapter 2, Part 27) requires that parents send their children to school. Attendance is the student’s and parent’s/guardian's responsibility and if a student is to be absent from school, there are three options for verifying the absence...
- Parent/guardians must call the office at (619-605-8800), come to the front office in person to report the absence, or fill out the Google Form (linked below). This form is conveniently listed on the main page of our Jones Elementary Website if you need it in the future.
24-25 COVID-19
Health & Safety Guidelines
As a school district our COIVD-19 health and safety guidelines continue to evolve. Here are the 2024-2025 updates. These guidelines and Contact Tracing will continue per Cal/OSHA requirements until February 3, 2025. If you have additional questions, please reach out to our Health Office.
Positive Cases:
- Employees and students may return to school when their symptoms are mild and improving, and no fever for 24 hours without fever reducing medications.
- Asymptomatic positive individuals may remain at school.
- Employees who return from work after a positive COVID test must mask for 10 days from when their symptoms started. Asymptomatic positive employees must mask for 10 days from when they tested positive.
- Masking for students after testing positive is optional and not required.
Information on positive cases by school site can be found on the SDUSD COVID-19 Dashboard.
Close Contacts/Outbreaks:
Student close contacts will no longer be collected or notified unless there is an outbreak.
An outbreak is defined by at least three cases within a 7-day period among people who are linked in the same location, and are not known to be close contacts of each other in other cases.
Prevention:
Masks are not required but are available at all school and district sites. They are available in the front office, health office, and all classrooms.
The use of hand sanitizer and hand washing continues to be promoted to all students and staff.
A combination of MERV-13 air filters in our HVAC units and portable Air Purifiers (HEPA filtration units) continue to be utilized across the campus.
Home Test Kits:
COVID OTC test kits are available at all district site health offices. You can request a kit in person in our front office or call/email the health office and a kit can be sent home with your child.
COVID tests are all home test kits only. Students can only test at home or by a parent.

SD United for Democracy...
San Diego Unified is dedicated to fostering a vibrant, informed, and engaged community through the power of education and dialogue. To help our students to be collaborative communicators, socially-aware agents of change, and critically-thinking digital citizens, our nonpartisan SD Unified for Democracy project offers resources to develop skills to engage in civil discourse, identify bias and credibility, debate and maintain a focus on issues, and repair harm that arises from political rhetoric.
The link below offers resources and tools adults can use to engage with and learn alongside children and teens during the election cycle and beyond.
