Principal's Corner
This school year is off to a great start! It was wonderful seeing so many of you at the Meet the Teacher Night before school started and to see so many of you since. Thank you for all that you do to support your child and his/her success at school.
I'd like to welcome a few new faces to our Cook Team.
Mrs. Carmen Cosgrove is our new Speech and Language Pathologist. Mrs. Cosgrove comes to us from the Anderson Elementary staff and we feel fortunate to have her on our team.
Mrs. Cassondra Dell is our new Resource Room Teacher. Mrs. Dell joins us from Brendel Elementary School and we're delighted to have her join us.
Miss Elisabeth Greenlees is student teaching this semester with Mrs. Perlin. Miss Greenlees is pursuing her teaching degree from Grand Valley State University and is a Grand Blanc graduate. It's great to see the upcoming teaching talent at work and we're glad to have her on the team.
Mrs. April Laird completed her student teaching years ago at Cook Elementary School and has rejoined our team this year as the newest teacher to our Autism classroom. We are thrilled to have her back!
Mrs. Natalie Marzonie-Parra is a new Kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Parra has previously worked at Cook as a Special Education Paraprofessional and completed her student teaching with us last year. We are very excited that we had a spot for her to officially rejoin our team!
Welcome to all new Cook Staff members!
As you know we made a change to our end of the day dismissal. It seems to be going pretty smoothly. To get our timing down a little more we will be opening the back gates for parking at 3:30. We think this will still allow enough time for you to get parked and to the doors in time. We'll give it a try and if it needs to change slightly we'll let you know. Thanks for being so patient as we work through these changes.
Hispanic Heritage Month is from September 15th to October 15th. At Cook Elementary School and throughout our district, we are committed to learning about and appreciating the differences that make us unique. Understanding and valuing these differences is crucial for success in our diverse school community and beyond.
Grand Blanc’s Homecoming Parade will be Friday, September 27th at 5:00 p.m. We would like staff, students and parents to participate. Students must have a parent or guardian with them to walk in the parade. Permission slips will be sent home next week.
Our Lost & Found is already growing! It is especially helpful if you put your child's name (or even initials) inside their coat, sweatshirts and pullovers. We always work to get items back to the correct child and we need your help please.
Please know, your child's safety and success is our number one priority. If you have any questions, concerns or just want to share information please give us a call at 810-591-7910 or you can email me personally at tdale@gbcs.org
Sincerely,
Tia Dale
Cook Elementary School Principal

What is the Positivity Project?
At Cook Elementary School we participate in the Positivity Project. Please read the letter below and look over the 24 Character Strengths that we talk about daily. The P2 project is based on positive psychology and the belief that when we know about our own character strengths, we will then be more open to seeing other's areas of strength. This in turn helps us build positive relationships with others. Students will spend a few minutes each day learning about the Character Strength of the week. Be sure to ask your child about the strength we're working on and maybe find ways you can include it at home as well. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. There is also good information on their website posproject.org
