Dear BES Families,
Welcome to a new school year! We are very excited to kick off another fantastic year of learning with our students. As families, you are our number one partner and your support makes the difference. We encourage you to be an active member in your child's learning and our school community.
Please help us help your child have the best possible experience at Berlin Elementary. Please make sure that students are present and on time each day. Attendance has a huge impact on a student's academic, emotional, and social success at school. (Please see the graphic below regarding attendance) If your child is unable to attend school for any reason, please call the Main Office (518-658-1500) in the morning to report the absence. We will be following up with phone calls if a child is absent and we have not received a phone call.
All students enrolled at Berlin Elementary School are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at NO CHARGE to your household each day of the 23-24 school year. No further action is required on your part to participate in these meal programs. September breakfast and lunch menus can be found below.
We will be holding a Supply Drop Off for students in grades K-5 on Wednesday, September 6th from 2-4pm. We hope that you can join us. Students will have the opportunity to see their new classroom for the upcoming school year.
We will send this newsletter monthly to help keep you informed of all events and information regarding BES. We will occasionally send emails, or School Messenger calls to remind you of important information. We can always be reached by email tkent@berlincentral.org or jcataldo@berlincentral.org.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS
The Month Ahead
September 6 - Pre-K Orientation (see assigned times)
September 6 - Supply Drop Off, 2:00-4:00pm @ BES (Grades K - 5)
September 7 & 8 - Pre-K students will attend based on their assigned day.
September 11 - ALL Pre-K attend
September 15 - Green & Gold Day! Show your school pride.
September 19 - Board of Education Meeting, 7:15 pm @ BMHS Cafeteria
October 4 - School Picture Day
October 4 - Open House (More information to follow)
Student Drop Off/ Pick Up by Car
Student Drop Off
Student drop off begins at 9:00 am and runs through 9:10 am. Students will not be allowed to enter the building prior to 9:00 am. Please do not drop off prior to this time.
All vehicles must enter from the south end of the building at South East Hollow. You will turn left into the drop off lane from SE Hollow (as you enter from Route 22) that runs parallel to the building.
Please stay in line and move forward until you are near the front of the line.
Staff members will greet two cars at a time and allow students to exit the vehicle. Parents should remain in their vehicle.
Staff members will be on hand to walk students to the building.
Pull forward and exit on the north end of the building.
Please help the line move quickly by having your child ready to exit the car as you approach our staff.
Student Pick Up by Parent
Students pick up begins at 3:15 pm.
Parents should arrive and park in the open parking spots.
Please exit your vehicle, walk to the sidewalk and wait in line to pick up your child.
A staff member will call for your child and ask you to sign them out.
