November Champions of the Charter
November's Champions of the Charter were recently chosen by the staff at Central School. This month, these students went above and beyond to practice and help others to feel POSITIVE, SAFE, RESPECTED, and CALM here at Central School. The champions will be recognized at the board meeting on December 17th. We are very proud of the great example they set for their fellow students. Congratulations to: Brooke B., Oliver B., Emma B., Donovin D., Lily H., Jake J., Jack L., Nevaeh L., Nora M., Claire M., Colter O., Jaxon O., Ruby R., Paisley S.
November's Perfect Attendance
In November, we had 189 students that had perfect attendance! 5th grade house 2 had 59% of their students with perfect attendance for the month! Students will receive a sticker for their perfect attendance badge on their locker and will be highlighted on a school bulletin board. Students that receive perfect attendance each month will be entered into a drawing for prizes, and will be able to help their class earn class rewards. Having great attendance is very beneficial to the success of our students. Congratulations to all of our students with perfect attendance!
First Trimester Honor Roll
Congratulations to all of our students that earned honor roll for the first trimester. Students that earn honor roll all three trimesters in 5th grade, and the first 2 trimesters of 6th grade, will qualify for the Presidential Academic Award at the end of 6th grade. Great job and keep up the good work!
What's Happening in 5th Grade House Two?
Students in House 52 have been busy learning about the ecosystem in science class. So far, we have taken one of our three field trips to Dayton Bluffs to explore how animals are impacted by their environment. Students have also had the opportunity to help to collect seeds for future planting that will take place during our spring visit to Dayton Bluffs. Prior to our field trip, students had an in class lesson where they learned about the food chain and how each species contributes to the ecosystem. We will be visiting Dayton Bluffs again in January for our winter trip and will have a classroom lesson once again beforehand.
Also, to honor Veterans Day, our House 52 students made thank you cards. These cards were sent to the Illinois Veterans Home in LaSalle.
Reminder of Expectations at Home Sporting Events
Central students are invited to attend the sporting events we host here at Central. There are a few guidelines that we ask them to follow:
Students are not allowed to stay after school for our home games. They must go home first, and then return for the game.
After school events and activities are subject to the same expectations and consequences as during the school day.
Students are expected to sit in the Central Student Section.
Students are not to play on the railings outdoors.
No hanging out in the hallway, students should be in the gym.
Enter and exit the gym by going down the music hallway.
Students should never be running in the building.
Students will be allowed to go to the restroom and concessions at halftime of each game and between games ONLY.
Cell phones need to be put away. The only time you can have them out is when you are told to call home for a ride. Students are not allowed to take pictures or videos and you are not allowed to play music.
Keep the bleachers clean - no throwing food or wrappers. You will be asked to clean up after yourselves before leaving.
Everyone needs to call for a ride at the beginning of the 4th quarter of the last game (basketball), or before the last set (volleyball).
Once you leave the building, you are not allowed to return.
Attending after school events is a privilege. If poor behavior becomes an issue, you will not be allowed to attend in the future.
