6/7/24 Oakmont Update
June 7, 2024
Dear Families,
Last week I had the privilege of participating in our fifth grade field trip to Santa Cruz Island. Through three days of early mornings and challenging hikes our students demonstrated responsibility, perseverance, and kindness in all that they did. We are so proud of our amazing Owls! This and all of our other biome trips could not take place without your support. Thank you for everyone who has volunteered to chaperone, made monetary donations, and participated in our PFA fundraisers this year. You have made a significant, positive difference in the lives of our students.
I can't believe that this is our final week of school for the 2023-2024 school year. As a reminder, we are one 1:00 dismissal every day this week. The last day of school is Thursday, June 13th.
Upcoming Dates:
- June 10-June 13
- 1:00pm Dismissal all Week (TK will dismiss at regular time)
- June 11
- 9:00 am Grad Walk
- June 12
- AR Party
- June 13
- 8:45 am 6th Grade Promotion Ceremony
- Last Day of School (1:00 pm dismissal)
Sincerely,
Mrs. Rodriguez

Library Books Due ASAP
Notices have been sent home with students who have overdue books. Books can be replaced with one of equal value or families can pay a replacement fee to Kim in the office.
iPads, Charging Cables, and Blocks
Students will be checking in their iPads this week. If your child checked out a charging cable and/or a charging block, those need to be returned, too. If you are not sure, please reach out to your child's teacher to check. Any items that are lost need to be paid for or replaced.

2026-2027 Student Calendar Survey
Dear CUSD Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,
As we prepare for the 2026-2027 school year, we are considering a change to our academic calendar and we need your input.
We are exploring the possibility of moving the start date of the school year up by approximately two weeks, which would align the end of the first semester with winter break. This change would mean starting school in mid-August and ending around May 31st, rather than our traditional start date before Labor Day.
Your feedback is crucial in helping us make an informed decision. Please take a few minutes to complete the attached survey and share your thoughts on this potential change.
Please note that the calendars for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years follow our traditional calendar and have already been approved by the Board of Education. They can be found on our district website.

Thank you for your time and participation. We greatly appreciate your input as we strive to create the best educational experience for our students.
Sincerely,
Dr. James Elsasser
