EOC Testing Stress - Tips for Parents/Guardians
Spring semester is in full swing, which means testing season is about to begin. For many students, believing they can pass a test is their biggest obstacle.
Here are four ways you can help your child feel more confident and relaxed heading into testing!
1. Prepare for a strong start:
Set everyone up for a successful morning. The night before, have your child pick out their clothes, pack lunches and snacks, and make sure they have every tool they need in their backpack (such as pencils, erasers, paper, calculator, etc.)
2. Optimize their brain power:
Make sure your child gets a full night’s rest and a hearty breakfast on the morning of testing day. Hydration is also key! Encourage them to drink lots of water.
3. Help reduce anxiety with physical activity:
Stretch as a family before you leave for school, walk or bike ride with them to school if that’s an option, or practice simple deep breathing exercises in the car.
4. Be their biggest champion:
Make a fun playlist for them to listen to on the way to school, write them an encouraging note, or have them say positive self-affirmations in the mirror while getting ready.
Remember, parents, YOU are the No.1 voice in your child's life!
Your support and encouragement will help them walk into the testing season with confidence and determination to do their best!
