Berlin Bobcat Beat
October
Fall season is here...
Greetings From Mrs. G.
Dear Berlin Community,
As September comes to a close, we’re thrilled to celebrate a successful start to the school year! Our students have jumped in with enthusiasm, and the joy in our hallways is contagious.
A Month of Learning and Growth
This first month has been filled with exciting lessons and new friendships. Our teachers have worked hard to establish routines, ensuring that each student feels safe, respected, and ready to learn. Teachers and interventionists have been hard at work collecting data to best support all students academically this year. It’s a lot of work but the information we gain is immensely helpful! We appreciate the support you’ve shown at home as we reinforce these values together.
Whole School Celebrations
We celebrated many times this month as classrooms and as a whole school. As a whole school we have had extra recess, stuffy day and maker’s day. We can’t wait to see what other fun activities, games, and community spirit come out of school celebrations in the month of October!
Kindness and Respect
Throughout the month, our focus on kindness and respect through transitions and that work has shone brightly. We’ve seen students helping each other, sharing positive words, and demonstrating respect in all transitions. Our paw jars are filling up—-let’s keep this momentum going! Encourage your child to be safe, respectful and ready at school and at home.
Looking Ahead
As we move into October, let’s build on the strong foundation we’ve set. Stay tuned for more information from the school and your child’s classrooms about exciting new events!
Thank you for your partnership and support. Together, we can ensure this year is filled with growth, learning, and fun!
Be Well,

A Note From Board Member Diane Nichols-Fleming
Hello!
My name is Diane Nichols-Fleming and I am one of the Berlin representatives on the
WCUUSD Board of Directors. The Board has been working on how to put our Strategic
Plan and Core Beliefs into practice. We are focused on balancing that work with the
needs of our students and also our communities. Budgets are tight everywhere and our
school budget has many external pressures that are out of our control.
There has been a lot of discussion focused on our configuration of schools and how do
we best plan for our future. The next Board is meeting on Tuesday, Oct 1 at 6:15pm.
This is bolded since this is a change in our usual meeting day. We are meeting at Calais
Elementary School and there is a virtual option as well. We will be making some critical
decisions around our pathway forward and I would like to hear from you.
The links below will share the variety of documents that have been reviewing. They
connect to the configuration and budget presentations that have been shared with the
Board. I have also shared the link for the Strategic Plan.

Please feel free to email me (dnicholsfleming@u32.org) your thoughts and questions. If
you would prefer to talk, please email me your number and I will give you a call. There
is also a survey open to all to gather input. That link is below.
