The Spartan - 10/20
Strafford School Community Newsletter
October 20, 2024
Hello Spartans!
We hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. Thank you to the many students and staff who participated in a VERY fun Spirit Week last week. Though it was a short week, it was packed full of fun throughout the building. 4th graders got their first taste of a pep rally, while students in K-3 celebrated all our 5-8 athletes as they toured the halls. Spartan Pride was strong through our school - we are so proud of the community for coming together to celebrate our amazing community!

π₯³ Fun Happenings at School! π₯³
We had such a blast with Spirit Week! Students got to wear tie dye, Spartan blue and white and pjs! They even got to bring in their favorite stuffies to school! Students in grades 4-8 participated in a Pep Rally to show their school spirit and cheer on athletes from cross country, soccer and volleyball. 8th graders thought they'd win the Tug O' War but staff came in at the last minute and dominated :)

We will be donating all lost and found items by the 2nd week in November!
Cold Weather Clothing Reminder
The cold weather season is upon us. Please remember to send students to school with weather appropriate clothing. All students spend time outdoors during the school day and can get cold if not wearing layers. Thank you!
School Day Drop Offs/Pick Ups
To ensure the safety of our parking lot and families arriving and departing during school hours, we kindly ask everyone to use the now labeled (see below) parking spaces closest to the entrance when visiting the school between 8 AM and 3 PM, Monday through Friday. We have noticed that a number of individuals park directly in front of the entrance during drop-off and pick-up times, which poses a safety risk by blocking access to the building in case of an emergency. Our office staff will be reminding visitors over the next few weeks.
Thank you for your cooperation and attention to this important matter!

Middle School Basketball Sign Ups Are Open!
Sign ups for middle school basketball are now open. Please click the link below to sign your student up for tryouts. Tryouts will start on November 12th, times to be determined. Practice times throughout the season will vary, so please be aware of this when deciding if your student can make the commitment.
As a reminder Strafford Rec has a basketball program for middle schoolers. Practice and games for school and rec basketball don't usually conflict so students are able to sign up for both. This is especially great for beginning players, players that can't make a commitment to the middle school team schedule or B team players that don't have as many games as A team players.
