The Paw Print
23-24 Volume 17 - May 17, 2024
A Message from Mrs. Erenstoft
Dear Surfside Family,
As we come to the close of another incredible school year, I am filled with gratitude and pride for all that we have achieved together. The 2023-2024 school year has been nothing short of extraordinary, marked by numerous successes, memorable events, and remarkable growth for our students and community.
From the exhilarating Color Run to the competitive spirit of Field Day, from the captivating displays of creativity at Fine Arts Night to the energizing activities of Family Fitness Night, and from the awe-inspiring projects showcased at the Science Fair, each event was a testament to our collective dedication and enthusiasm. This year, we opened our new kindergarten playground, our sixth graders crafted a project destined for space, while numerous students showcased their artistic talents in prestigious exhibitions, one student's winning essay granted them an unforgettable encounter with an astronaut, and our students' exceptional leadership earned them well-deserved recognition and awards.
I am thrilled to announce that we have not only met but exceeded all of our school improvement goals. This achievement reflects the unwavering commitment of our dedicated staff, the relentless support of our parents and guardians, and the hard work and determination of our students. Together, we have demonstrated what is possible when we work collaboratively towards a common vision of excellence.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this year has been witnessing the growth of our students, both academically and socially. It has been a joy to see them embrace new challenges, overcome obstacles, and develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in school and beyond. Their resilience, curiosity, and kindness inspire us all and remind us of the incredible potential that lies within each and every one of them.
As we look ahead to the summer break and the opportunities that await us in the next school year, let us carry forward the spirit of unity, perseverance, and innovation that has defined our journey thus far. Together, there is no limit to what we can achieve, and I am confident that with your continued support and involvement, we will build upon the foundation of success we have established and reach even greater heights in the years to come.
On behalf of the entire Surfside Elementary School community, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering commitment, dedication, and passion. It is because of your collective efforts that we have made this year one to remember, and I am incredibly proud to be a part of this amazing family.
With warmest regards,
Principal Kassie Erenstoft
Congratulations to our Retirees
Congratulations on your Retirement!
Congratulations to our 2024 retirees! Pictured above from left to right are Annette Jankowski, Peggy Beltran, and Lisa Karcher. These ladies have been staples in our Surfside community for many years. Their service and dedication to our students and the community of Satellite Beach are unmatched. We will miss them greatly and wish them well on their next adventure.
Graduation Clap Out
On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 2:00 pm, we will be celebrating our sixth graders. We are enhancing this tradition by allowing graduating seniors who attended Surfside to walk with our students. Parents are invited to participate in this event. Below are the instructions for how to join us. Please read carefully.
1. We ask that guests pre-register. This will allow us to safely screen all visitors, have a streamlined process, and reduce the wait time when checking in. Click HERE to let us know you are coming.
2. You must arrive between 1:15 and 1:55. Nobody will be checked in after 1:55. Anyone arriving late will only be able to observe from outside the school gates.
3. When you check in, you must show a government issued ID.
4. Adult visitors will stand in a designated area and be dismissed in that area. They may not roam freely on campus or join the parade of students.
We are excited about this event and hope many will join us. If you have questions or concerns, please call the Surfside front office.
Summer Reading
The students learned how to log minutes for their summer reading challenge in Media. The overall challenge for K-5 is to obtain all 15 summer reading challenge badges on Beanstack. Any child that does get all 15 badges will get an ice cream party when they return to school. 😊
I know many teachers have been practicing in their classrooms, but just in case the students forget over the summer when they’re at home here are some quick tips.
