Salthawk Summer Newsletter
Hutchinson USD 308 District Newsletter | July 2023
A Message from the Superintendent
Hutchinson USD 308 Salthawk Families,
We are a little over halfway through summer break, and I hope it's been a good one! Your USD 308 staff have been hard at work all summer creating our strategic plan, aligning our priorities, preparing classrooms & buildings, serving hot lunches on hot days, and doing so much to grow the hearts and minds for the next school year. All preparations are underway, and we couldn’t be more excited for the first days of school on August 16 and 17, where we will welcome back students with high fives and hellos!
With a new school year comes new possibilities and opportunities. We will start the year steeped in tradition with Convocation for our staff in early August, and then spend the days before school starts in teacher professional development. This year we will continue our work engaging community stakeholders in planning efforts around our facilities. USD 308 has taken an important step towards creating a new mission, vision and core values with the help of district leadership, community members, and consultants from Wichita State University’s Community Engagement Institute. The project, which began in last year, aims to establish a shared understanding of the district’s purpose and values that will guide decision-making, strategic planning, and operations this coming year and for years to come.
This fall is packed with educational opportunities, athletics and activities, and so much Salthawk Spirit that you’ll be chanting the Allagaroo all year long!
I look forward to a successful Salthawk school year. Please use this newsletter to help you get started on your journey into 2023-24.
Once a Salthawk, Always a Salthawk.
Dr. Dawn M. Johnson
