Mac El Weekly News
Week of September 20
From the Principal
Next week will be a busy week as it is Homecoming Week! There are dress up days each day of the week. Please note that our dress up days have been geared toward our elementary students. It all ends with a fun day on Friday. The big challenge is to remind our students that they have a lot of learning and dress up days do not affect that! Also, please take note of the safety reminders and guidelines for extra curricular events, especially if your student will want to attend the Homecoming Football game next Friday. Hope you have a great weekend as we look forward to cooler temperatures next week!

STEM in our School
Mrs. Eash's class exploring the Laws of Conservation of Matter
Students used our knowledge of the Law of Conservation of Matter to test if ice cubes would weigh the same when they change states (from solid to liquid). They made their hypotheses, used digital scales to weigh the ice cubes before and after melting them outside, and graphed our results! They also discussed some factors that could cause our results to be different than our predictions.
Attendance
Regular attendance is crucial for studentsβ academic success. When students miss school, they often miss important lessons, assignments, and opportunities for interaction with their classmates and teachers. This can lead to falling behind in their studies and feeling discouraged. Itβs essential for students to attend school consistently to build a strong foundation for their education and future goals.
If your child will not be at school, you must leave the reason for your child's absence when calling into the attendance line. Thank you!
Guidance Department
The guidance classes are currently focusing on identifying "double dip" feelings and teaching coping skills. Double dip feelings refer to experiencing two conflicting emotions at the same time in response to the same event. Additionally, students are being provided with a list of positive thoughts and affirmations to keep in their desks. This will help them change their negative thoughts into positive ones when needed.
Peru Lion's Club Donates Dictionaries
Thank you!
Thank you to the Peru Lion's Club for donating over 150 dictionaries to our third grade students! This is an annual donation that allows every third grade student to have their own dictionary!

Breakfast and Lunch Menus
Universal Free Breakfast
All Maconaquah Elementary Students will be able to receive a free breakfast. Students will report to the cafeteria upon arrival to get their breakfast and bring it to their classroom to eat.
Important Safety Reminder for All Extra-curricular Events
We appreciate families supporting Maconaquah at extra-curricular events. We want to remind all families of the importance of supervising your children at all extra-curricular events. For the safety of our students, elementary and middle school students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian in attendance at these events.
Please note that running around and engaging in rough play, such as throwing footballs, rocks, etc., can pose a risk to both players and spectators. In order to maintain a safe environment for everyone, we ask that you refrain from allowing your children to participate in these activities.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated, as it helps us in creating a positive and safe atmosphere for our community.
π Braves of the Week
2nd Grade: Ryder Parvin
Ryder has been on his game this week. He is an active participant in class, offering his input during our classroom discussions. Ryder has also gone out of his way to be nice to others outside of the classroom. He has been spotted this week saying hi and giving hugs to other teachers. Keep up the great work, Ryder!
3rd Grade: Koden Smith
Koden has been a joy to have in class this year! He is a hard worker and a great leader for his classmates to look up to. Koden is always willing to lend a helping hand. I appreciate Kodenβs participation in class and his determination to learn and grow. Koden is a role model BRAVE that I know I can always count on.
4th Grade:Jase Behny
Jase is a great example of a Brave. He is respectful to his teachers and classmates. Jase displays a lot of curiosity and involves himself fully in class activities. He also has a great sense of humor and can bring a smile with a clever joke. I am very proud of Jase and know he will have a wonderful year as he continues his awesome work ethic and positive attitude.
5th Grade: Chandler Harts
Chandler has been a great addition to our class. I can always count on him to set an example for the rest of our class. Chandler is motivated, reliable, kind, funny, and has proven to be a great friend. He is definitely someone I can count on to get the job done! So excited to see what he accomplishes in 5th grade and beyond!
