Principal's Message
Happy Friday and I hope you all have enjoyed a good week. We are now half way through this school year and students seemed to have hit the ground running in this 3rd quarter. We had a fun day today at Backwards Day and students found creative ways to honor a backwards theme. I observed some backwards shirts, hoodies, jackets and some shoes. I also saw students walking in the front door and down the hallways backwards which seemed a little dangerous, but there were no injuries reported. Some students began to call themselves by their "backwards name" and they started calling me "Rotcod Nivlem." I also heard some teachers greeting students at the start of the day with "Good Afternoon" and "Happy Monday!" Elementary school students (and staff) sure do enjoy a spirit day!
As I mentioned last week, student report cards will be available to you on ParentVue by midday next Monday, February 3. We will send out a message on Remind when they will be available (around 12 noon). I hope you all have a great weekend!
Principal Melvin

Inclement Weather Procedures ⛄🏂🎿
It is that time of year to remind everyone about what we do at PPS when dealing with inclement weather. You can find information on the PPS website.
Find out about closures and delays:
- Depending on your notification preferences, PPS will send alerts via phone, text, and/or email.
- Information is also posted on the PPS website, social media, and submitted to the media.
Delays and closures:
- The District has two options in the event of inclement weather - delay school openings for two hours or close schools altogether.
- Before deciding which to do, District officials consult with local meteorologists, city transportation officials and PPS transportation staff in the field.
Late start:
- If PPS announces a two hour late start, Duniway will start school at 10:00 a.m.
- Breakfast would be available starting at 9:45 a.m.
- Morning Buses would run 2 hours later than usual.
Makeup days:
- The Board of Education has built into the calendar up to four replacement days in the event of school closures. See 2024-25 District Calendar for dates.
