Ridgeview Junior High
January 10, 2025 Vol. 26
PRINCIPAL'S WEEKLY MESSAGE
Happy Friday Ridgeview families! Here are your weekly updates.
Quarter 2 final grades will be able to be viewed soon in Infinite Campus for families. If your student was issued an I for an incomplete, that grade will be updated once all required work has been completed and turned in. Deadline for that work has been communicated to your student, but if you have questions, please contact your child’s teacher(s).
This Sat Jan 11th, our boys and girls basketball teams will be competing against Lakeview at Pickerington High School North. The girls will play first, starting with the 7th grade at 11:00 am. All students who wish to attend these games will need to show their school ID or pull up their information in Infinite Campus. As always, all K-8 students also need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Students who fail to show their ID or who aren’t accompanied by a parent/guardian will not be allowed to enter the basketball games. We want our student body to be able to support their peers. This is a rivalry game and we’d love to see as many Ridgeview students in attendance as possible, but we must follow the district’s expectations in order to make that happen. If parents have questions, please contact our athletic director Evan Doughty.
The district is continuing its attendance incentive with the “Stay In The Game” initiative. All Ridgeview students who had perfect attendance for quarter 2 are now eligible to attend a high school winter sporting event for free! A talking point message was sent to those families on Wed Jan 8th, as well as earlier today. If you received that message, please make sure you complete this google form in order to receive your free game entry. The google form is due tonight! Families who miss the deadline will not be honored with the incentive. If families have questions, please contact the district office for more information.
Lastly, as we continue to push our students past their limits with the goal of having them extra prepared for the upcoming Ohio State Test, please help us by having your students do the following at home:
Taking time to read 10-15 minutes each evening. It can be anything as long as they are taking that time.
Following up to ensure students are completing their math and ELA iReady or Membene lessons with accuracy (scoring a passing percentage the first time) - not just completing the work. How well they do on these lessons is aligned to how well they’ll do on the state test.
This quarter is so important to their overall growth the rest of the year! Let’s make it happen.
Take care and we’ll see everyone next week! GO TIGERS!
Important Dates:
Wed Jan 15 - ELA iReady Diagnostic
Mon Jan 20 - Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Day - NO SCHOOL!

Early Dismissal Information
District Policy states that only guardians listed on Infinite Campus are permitted to pick up their student. If your student needs to be picked up early by someone who is NOT their guardian, a guardian must call the office to let us know who will be picking up their child. The other adult must present a valid ID to office staff for the student to be released to them.
Personal Communication Devices:
Pick-up times for Personal Communication Devices will be Mon - Fri in the main office from 8:00 am - 1:45 pm and again from 2:30 pm - 3:00 pm as long as school is in session. The main office closes at 3:00 pm daily.
We’re collecting more devices daily. If your student has a device confiscated and it doesn’t belong to them, the person that it belongs to AS WELL AS the student who had it taken from will be added to our spreadsheet for a confiscated device. Please make a note of this.

HELP Make Our Schools Safer
The Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Public Safety have launched the SaferOH tip line that will accept both calls and texts 24 hours a day.
This tip line allows students and adults to anonymously share information with school officials and law enforcement about threats to student safety—whether that involves a threatened mass incident or harm to a single student.
Every tip can remain anonymous. School safety analysts may ask for additional information, but the caller can remain secret or leave his or her contact information for later follow-up.
Calls or texts to 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764) are answered by analysts in the Ohio Homeland Security’s Threat Assessment and Prevention (TAP) Unit. When action is needed, the TAP Unit immediately forwards information to Pickerington Schools, local law enforcement agencies, and others, if necessary.
