Don't forget about our APPLE CORE reading program. Special APPLE CORE bookmarks have been given to K-5 students since the beginning of the year. Families are encouraged to get older siblings to read to younger ones or to listen to their child read at home every night. Then, a parent or guardian will initial one-fourth of an apple on the bookmark for every 15 minutes of reading completed. Students will write the titles of the books they have read on the back of the bookmark. Next, a parent or guardian will sign the completed bookmark after all 20 apples have been initialed. The student will then give the bookmark to their teacher, and they will receive a new bookmark to continue with this reading program. The completed bookmarks will be entered into a monthly raffle through March. You can learn more about the program and its history at the APPLE CORE Website by click the picture.
