Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week is this week, February 9 - 15th. We are blessed at Roncalli to have an amazingly committed group of educators and staff working with our students each and every day. We are trying to put together a few small things to say thank you to our teachers and staff for their amazing hard work. This is the one week out of the school year that we want to do a few little extra things to show our appreciation for all that our teachers and staff do for the students and families of Roncalli. If you are interested in helping out in any way please contact Ms. Pearce via phone or email trinapearce@nlschools.ca or any of our school council members.

Grade 6 Families - Pleasse see the attached memo regarding LFI registration and information sessions for families. The information sessions will take place on Feb. 11 and 13 at 7pm. The Google meet link is included on the family memo.
Unexpected School Closures
In the event of an unexpected school closure (inclement weather, power failure, water problems, etc), we will use School Messenger to contact you via email. For this reason, it is important that families inform us of any changes in your contact numbers or email addresses. When inclement weather is expected, please listen to our local radio stations for school information, check the School Information Status Report on the NLSchools website at https://www.nlschools.ca/schools/statusreport.jsp/ or check Twitter @RoncalliSchool for the latest school updates. Decisions about school closures or delays due to weather are usually made by NLSchools by 6:30 AM.
On days when school may close unexpectedly early during the school day due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, it is very important that we know how each child will dismissed. Please read and complete the attached memo, and return to the school as soon as possible. For your convenience, a paper copy of this memo was sent home via the children as well.
National School Counselor's Week
This week, we recognized and celebrated National School Counseling Week, and we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for our incredible school counselor, Mr. Lynch!
Mr. Lynch's dedication, compassion, and unwavering support make a world of difference in the lives of our students and school community every day. Whether he is offering guidance, lending a listening ear, or helping students and familes navigate challenges, his impact is truly invaluable.
Thank you, Mr. Lynch, for all that you do to help our students and school community learn, grow, and thrive! đŸ’™
Groundhog Day
The holiday is a popular tradition celebrated in North America on February 2. According to folklore, if the groundhog sees its shadow, it will be scared and return to its burrow. That translates to a forecast of six more weeks of winter on the way. Under cloudy skies, the groundhog stays out to visit, suggesting we'll see an early spring. What were your predictions......
These rockets think an early spring!
We want more winter!
We just like our new groundhog friend!
Creativity with Legos
Studies show that hands-on learning improves information retention, and teachers know that hands-on learning is key to engaging students in the classroom as well. Building with LEGO'S can teach kids critical skills without them even realizing they are learning! It can spark creativity, develop critical thinking skills, and explore basic STEAM concepts (it’s also just loads of fun!) Look how creative these rockets are!
What an amazing job!
