Building Equity-Based Summers: Cohort 2
The Office of Library and Information Services is one of six state library agencies piloting the IMLS grant funded initiative Building Equity Based Summers Through Libraries & Communities (BEBS). Led by the California Library Association (CLA), this project will build on the work of CLA and the California State Library (CSL) in developing a shared equity language and a set of tools and resources for library staff to use to build community-centered equitable summer services for youth, families, and communities.
OLIS is seeking five public libraries to participate in the second year of this three-year initiative. Each participating library will be represented by one staff member or a team of up to three people. Team members should have roles in summer services work and may be frontline staff, staff from other departments, supervisors, directors and community partners outside the library.

Savings can be used at accredited colleges, universities, trade, and vocational schools worldwide, as well as for registered apprenticeship programs.
The sweepstakes, which runs from June 19th to August 28th will award four $529 college savings accounts to Rhode Island children and young adults aged 18 or younger. Additionally, each winner's local public library will receive $500 toward future reading programs. SRP Updates
- Libraries using any iREAD materials (including slogan and artwork) must use the following credit line on ALL SRP signs, press releases, posters, websites and promotions. This credit line should also be used when promoting activities funded by the LORI SRP Mini-grant, even if your library is not using iREAD materials. Libraries may personalize this credit line by adding the library’s name and the names of local sponsors at the end:
The statewide Rhode Island Summer Reading Program is supported by the RI Office of Library and Information Services, with funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
- If you are so inclined to hashtag your SRP social media posts, we’re going to be using #RISummerReading and #FindYourVoice to organize and promote everyone’s events and activities.
- Help promote summer meals in your community by sharing the flyer below with your families and networks.
