Monthly Update-December 2018
3 More weeks
We are nearly there. Only three weeks left and we will be halfway through our year! It has absolutely flown by and we are so grateful for all of the support the last five months. The opening of this new building has been successful because of the collaboration, building structures, parent support, and resources we have in Solon! As stated before with our plan on a page, we have 5 goals for our building as seen below:
By June 2019, 90% of 4th and 5th grade students will meet grade level benchmarks according to Benchmark Assessments.
By June 2019, 100% of all 4th and 5th grade teachers will administer and analyze Reading Records to drive instructional decisions.
By June 2019, 100% of 5th grade teachers will be implementing all four units of study.
By June 2019, 100% of 4th grade teachers will be creating if/then units for implementation as a response to student need.
By June 2019, 100% of 4th and 5th grade students will know each other's names.
We support these goals and priorities with the following:
-Weekly Collaborative Learning Time (Thursday early release)
-Instructional coaching cycles to improve student learning
-Collaborative classroom teachers who open up their rooms
-Use of Grantwood AEA consultants
-Building leadership teams
-Intervention teams (academic, behavioral, and social-emotional)
-Comprehensive Intervention Model (CIM) for reading
-TAG services
-Special education services
We are looking forward to December, and continuing the hard work ahead! Enjoy the holiday season!!
THANK YOU!
Thank you to those that gave food for our parent/teacher conferences. Those days are crazy for our teachers, and it was very nice to have the spread we did!
If you have any suggestions on ways to make your conference experience more enjoyable, please don't hesitate to let us know.
Movie Night!
SIS Christmas Shoppe
The SIS Christmas Shoppe is looking for donations! The Christmas Shoppe is an event that gives all students the opportunity to pick out and wrap gifts for their families. We collect new and used items donated by our community members and will set up the Shoppe at SIS on December 18th. With a suggested donation of $1 per gift, all money raised is used to spread cheer to families in need. It is such a joyous event!
Donations can be left with Jamie in the office. We are looking for any items that could be used as a gift in the eyes of a child. Popular items are: Jewelry/accessories, small décor, koozies, golf balls, sports items, team gear, gadgets/tools, lotion, cologne, ties, toys, DVDs, etc. We also need tape, tissue paper, jewelry boxes, and gift bags!
Please consider donating items (a great excuse to clean house before the holidays)! The students have SO much fun shopping and wrapping, and the money raised provides much needed help to local families. 'Tis the Season!
Please direct questions to Mollie Kilburg molliekilburg@gmail.com
Thank you!
