Support Aledo Education Foundation's 10-Day Campaign!
We are so grateful for the support of the Aledo Education Foundation!
Last year, the AEF board came to Aledo ISD district administration with a strong desire to support the safety initiatives in the district. Knowing that there was new legislation pertaining to safety - much the district already did - but that not enough additional state funding was given to cover these requirements, AEF wanted to help take care of some of those necessary costs ($560,000 out of our general fund this year to cover what is not provided by state funding and one-time grants).
We know there are many groups and organizations that you support in Aledo ISD, and we are grateful for your love of and passion for our Bearcats and community. We hope today you will consider a donation to AEF, as well!
Superintendent Student Advisory Council Sees Impact on Student Life
Superintendent Student Advisory Council members appreciate their role as advisors to AISD administration and Trustees, and they love seeing their ideas put into action. And, well, they love the free lunch that comes with it all at monthly meetings, the first of which was this week for the 2024-2025 school year.
Aledo ISD Superintendent Dr. Susan Bohn has continued for the seventh-straight year the SSAC, a group of 20 eighth- through 12th-grade student leaders who gather for monthly lunch meetings to talk about the learning environment and student life as well as what’s going well and what changes could be made in the district.
“The purpose of SSAC is to allow Dr. Bohn to see, from our point of view, what should change in school and what should stay the same,” student Muaaz C. said.
Students in the SSAC have provided important feedback on everything from how you log into Chromebooks and what outside research sources are important for students to be able to access to how the bathrooms at AHS needed to be redone (and they were as a part of the Bond 2023 program!).
Bohn sees this student input as an integral part of decision making by the district and Board of Trustees.
“I formed the SSAC as a way to get student feedback and input on decisions we make as a district, and - I shouldn’t be surprised - each month they blow me away with their thoughtfulness and honesty,” Bohn said. “They are solutions-oriented and really do care about making their schools the best they can be. I hope they know the impact they have and how much we appreciate the work they do.”
SSAC members are nominated by principals to join during their eighth grade year. As long as the students are still enrolled in the Aledo ISD, they continue with the SSAC as they get older.
Local Government Collaborative Kicks Off 24-25 with Focus on Community Growth
Yesterday was the first meeting of the 2024-2025 school year for the Local Government Collaborative, a group that includes leaders from all 9 cities in AISD, Parker and Tarrant counties, the Parker County EDC, the East Parker County Chamber of Commerce, and the Aledo Education Foundation.
For the last six years, this group has met to build relationships, share information, collaborate, and advocate together for the benefit of the citizens of the Aledo ISD community. They have discussed population growth, infrastructure needs, planned development, and legislative advocacy on behalf of our community.
In attendance were: Megan Hendricks, Parker County Chamber Young Professional Network; Cintia Ortiz, Parker County; Lisa Flowers, Parker County Chamber of Commerce; Heylee Sears, Parker County EDC; Ron Becker, City of Cresson; Bryan Grimes and Mayor Doyle Moss, City of Willow Park; Noah Simon and Councilman Shane Davis, City of Aledo; Jack Huxel, Aledo Education Foundation; David Lear and Forrest Collins, Aledo ISD Board of Trustees; Susan Bohn, Aledo ISD Superintendent; and Lawrence Thompson, City of Fort Worth.
We are grateful how #AllinAledo and all about community these local leaders are!

All in Aledo: Giving Every Student a Chance to Belong
We know our Bearcat Community is #AllinAledo on Friday nights, but this year we're taking a closer look at all that goes into the Friday Night Magic in and around Tim Buchanan Stadium and even on the road during football season.
Spirit of Aledo is the energetic heartbeat of the student section at every Bearcat football game. Whether they’re leading chants, running the ALEDO flags across the field, or dancing alongside the drumline, they ensure the crowd stays hyped throughout Friday Night Lights!
What makes the Spirit of Aledo truly special is its inclusivity. Everyone, regardless of ability, has a chance to be at the center of the game-day excitement. These dedicated students don’t just show up on game day — they train over the summer and commit to weekly practices well before school starts. Spirit of Aledo exemplifies the “All in Aledo” spirit by creating a place where every student can belong and contribute, making them an integral part of an unforgettable game-day experience.
