Let's Close the Attitude Gap at Hearne in 2019!
You can't teach WILL...but at Hearne we can bring it out!
- Believe in our students!
- Know our students and adjust to meet their needs. Build the relationship!
- Care about our students!
- Provide an environment for excellent instruction daily!
- Realize who our students are and make your lessons relevant!
Never forget:
You make a difference!
You matter!
Your students need you!

Let the Jeans continue into January!
Beginning January 7 and ending January 31, employees may wear jeans to work."
"Please keep in mind that those employees who represent Alief ISD in public and professional meetings are still expected to dress professionally."
"Also, by jeans days, I do not mean the old, faded, stained jeans you wear to cut the grass, change the oil or roof your house in. Now, I do recognize that jeans that look like this are very fashionable and cost lots of money. Regardless, I request that you refrain from wearing these jeans and wear ones that are appropriate in our professional setting. "
-H.D. Chambers
All staff: Stop by the yellow ONE WORD banner by Thursday and add your word for 2019! Don't forget to write an explanation so we can support each other.

Reminders for all staff--
- All staff should be at work on time every day.
- Welcome students at your doorways at 7:40 AM daily.
- Plan ahead to ensure you arrive to campus before your scheduled duty begins.
- The expectation is for all staff to use it daily to sign in and sign out.
- If the Raptor system is down, we will do a manual sign in sheet where you will record your time in and out.
- You cannot Raptor in and be at your assigned duty at the same time. Campus safety is everyone's responsibility. It takes the effort from all players for our team to succeed.
Student Data Folders begin in January 2019
Goal setting is a powerful concept, particularly for students in our building.
"Without concrete goals to aim for, students are essentially reduced to nothing but wanderers."
We will define what our expectations are for acheiving academic success at Hearne!
Data Folders will be maintained from January to January so it moves across grade levels. These folders will be maintained by all K-4 students and monitored by teachers. Our goal with this is to track iStation, iReady, and assessment data for all students. Teachers can use this as a tool for goal setting with students, student conferences about progress, campus data conversations, parent conferences, and our upcoming data/content night this Spring semester.
The logistics:
Each grade level will receive a different color folder and a matching color milk crate for storage in the classroom. Handouts will be made available in January by your math and reading lead teachers.
The data folders will be updated as you deem necessary (every grade has various tests) but the campus will allow time the last day of each month for the last 25 minutes of the day. The crate will move to the next year’s teacher at the end of the year when classes are created.
Our 2018-2019 Campus Goal
35% of our LEP 3rd and 4th grade students will score at a meets level and 15% of our 3rd and 4th graders will score at a masters level on STAAR tests through the use of language building strategies.
#MeetUsAtMasters
In order to achieve this goal this year and beyond, we are providing the proper training for all staff members so we can all be aligned as we tackle the Main Thing: Student Achievement.
Our Vision and Mission Statements- We are what we say we are! Make every day show it.
Hearne Elementary will provide a learning environment where all students are empowered as leaders and critical thinkers. We are committed to building positive relationships in a safe environment while creating life-long learners who are prepared for the 21st century.
