Mr. Kirschenbaum, ELA
This week, we will investigate what life is like for Ha after the fall of Saigon and consider Ha’s thoughts on the experience.
Mx. Gomez, Math
We are in dire need of pencils in math. If families are able to donate, I would greatly appreciate it!
This week in Math 6 we are continuing our work with algebraic expressions, building on our knowledge of surface area, and working with one step equations.
This week in Math 7, we will continue working with inequalities in real world scenarios and wrap up the week with a Formative before Student Led Conferences on Thursday.
Ms. Wesselhoft, Geography
This week students learned about Europe. We are using this continent to explore the theme of Economics. On Monday, we will introduce Economics and learn new, relevant vocabulary. On Tuesday and Wednesday students will have simulations and take notes to understand market, command, mixed, and traditional economic systems.
The following week, I will be in Costa Rica supporting the 8th grade foreign language trip. I will leave a week of work to learn more in depth about each system and some case studies. Students are expected to complete their work daily and be on their BEST BEHAVIOR. Any negative reports will result in a week of after school detention upon my return.
Ms. Sagan, Science
Hello scientists!
Congrats on a fun week – a huge thank you to everyone who donated Oreos for our Oreo Lab, and apologies for any children who got home still on a sugar high.
Next week is a busy week – we have our Ramadan Formative on Monday and our Space Systems and Cycles Summative on Wednesday. The Ramadan Formative involves the students reading a passage about how the waxing crescent moon is used to start the holy month, and they will use their knowledge of the moon phases combined with their reading comprehension skills to answer a series of analysis questions about the holiday.
Our Space Systems and Cycles Summative is on Wednesday, and it has historically been a difficult one for students. To that end, there are two different Blookets posted on Canvas along with a virtual copy of the study guide, and students were given a paper copy of the study guide in class today. Please check in with your scientists to ensure they are spending AT LEAST 45 minutes reviewing for this summative.
Roots:
It’s a wrap on Roots for the 3rd quarter! The Roots Study Guide will be coming out next week, and the Summative will be the week of March 17th.
